Loved this teaser so much. So happy to see Q come back.

In the interview with Stewart it seems to me that someone in Starfleet close to him has died. I get that vibe as the admiral visits the chateau with a badge of an office and sad music plays with Picard looking sad.

Cue perhaps the time travel plot. Love the fact they seem to be tying this to All good things/Tapestry

If Q is Picard's Loki, then it would tie into Picard dipping into MCU territory (Seven is Punisher).

Not a grounded show, but more grounded than TOS for sure. There were no giant space amoebas, green glowing hands in space, or floating Abraham Lincolns.

There's an even bigger difference if you compare say TOS and VOY, as in the case of the latter once you're past the pilot 95%+ of aliens are completely human in both their physiology and their basic psychology. One show wanted to show us weird new things, the other give us comfort food.

Well, TNG did have giant space jellyfishes (Encounter at Farpoint), green-faced floating alien (Nagilum), and giant floating heads (Where No One Has Gone Before).

It could just as easily be Icheb.

Seven just has to be wracked with guilt ("How could I have been so STUPID?")

After doing the Borg it makes sense that Season 2 would feature the character it is going to feature. Very happy to hear it. IMO opinion they don’t even have to go through any deaging. Just have you know who take on an older appearance to mock the ageing Picard.

Indeed. It's off putting and outlandish in its presence. It insists that Q is deep and clever in its analysis of humanity while not realizing its distracting from that purpose.

Here is a random thought: what if Q turns Picard fully human again? I though the android body resurrection at the end of S1 was dumb so I'd be perfectly happy if they undo that bit.

I think it would so a complete lack of confidence in season 1 and its storytelling.

So, naturally it will probably happen.

All of those examples are from the first two seasons...when Roddenberry was still actively involved.

Once he was gone, TNG got much more grounded and less wacky overall.

As i said in another thread, he could split him up into Golem Picard and human Picard to make things really complicated...

Yeah, I know. But this entire series rests on Patrick Stewart (an 80-year-old man) and his health, how he feels, etc. They can plan for 5 years, but we should be prepared for less.

I'll take "wacky" over "let's have entire episodes about Worf's son or Data learning to dance" any day.

TNG could have used more of what they had in S1 and S2 (and TOS) in my opinion. As much as I like TNG, I really was disappointed how it became "pretty much any other 80's show" except set on futuristic sets.

I think there are several hints that time travel will be involved in S2. I wonder if Picard will have regrets about his life or grief over something and Q will send him back in time to relive a key moment? I know it would be a repeat of "Tapestry" but that was a great TG ep so if they have to borrow from TNG, that would not be a bad choice.

Tapestry would be a good base, because they wouldn’t need to de-age him. (Or cast a younger version)

To the people of the past he looks like he did then, but for the audience he still looks older.

I'm guessing we'll see Picard onboard the Stargazer. We see a model in the trailer, and Stewart said we'll "see times we've never seen before."

I think time travel was bludgeoned over our head in the teaser.
