He could, but he probably won't (just because he's a p%$#@). If Picard DID come back to life, it brings with it the possibility of him having irumodic syndrome ... AGAIN.
You know, I was all set to start saying that the elements displayed in the teaser don't automatically mean that the Bajorans or Prophets (or the Ready Room painting) will have anything to do with S2...but I might be re-thinking my usual stance on that now. If the theme is time (and many TNG adventures emphsized the impact and meaning of "time" in our lives, including "...All Good Things" and GEN, to name just a few), the involvement of the Prophets and Q would make a lot of sense. Both entities had a unique way of using the concept of time to teach humans about themselves. I personally have always love time-themed episodes that explore this kind of stuff. Outright "time travel" is not as much fun as these more nuanced examples of using fun temporal mechanics and scenarios to teach the characters something. Meaning...I like shows like "Tapestry (TNG)," "...All Good Things, (TNG)" "Terra Firma (DSC) and "Emissary" (DS9) more than the standard "we went back in time and had a fun adventure" episode. Hell, I even thought the Nexus was an awesome concept...it was just used and executed poorly in the GEN script. So, if S2 has some elements of what I've described above...I'll likely really enjoy it and find it engaging.
I liked the teaser, for what little we get, and I'm really excited to see Q. I'm definitely excited for Season 2, it sucks that we have to wait until next year.
Just come full circle to the DS9 premiere, Emissary. Picard: Yes, please, come in. Welcome to La Sirena. Sisko: It's been a long time, Admiral. Picard: Have we met before? Sisko: ... Are you sure that android body cured your irumodic syndrome? (Sisko punches Q again) Q: Picard would never have done that! Sisko: I'm not Picard! Picard: I still don't know if that's an insult or a compliment.
Don't lose faith yet, my friend. I remember when DSC was first announced....my stance was "Please...just don't do a 'Klingon War' story" and obviously I did not get what I wanted. And...DSC S1 is my favorite of all the new CBSAA Trek seasons thus far despite my initial misgivings. Sometimes, we can be surprised.
Regarding Q, it seemed TNG and DS9 operated on the belief that the villain of the series premiere was the designated archenemy of the series, bringing them back for a "final" confrontation in the finale--even where the character doesn't fit much, like Q. Thankfully that fell out of favor by Voyager, because it'd be really odd seeing the Kazon attack Earth or something in Voyager's series finale. It does seem they were aiming for Future Guy in Enterprise to fulfill this designated role before Enterprise was canceled.
With Woopie Goldberg and John De Lancie involved, I hope we'll get a bit more about the history between Guinan and Q. He seemed to almost fear her in their first encounter on TNG
Between the teaser referencing return of Q, referencing “The Reckoning” from DS9, a subtle reference to the Nexus (regarding time and no second chances), and a possibility of Guinan making an appearance, it seems that a theme of the upcoming season relates to the end times being near for the TNG era.
Yup. That's what the guy with the sandwich board sign has written on it. "The End is Near!" on the front and "FOR TNG" on the back.
Under Dante (Paradise Lost) , what I assume is a Dixon Hill novel) name: The Dark Tunnel; Tracy Torme'. Will Q give us (allow Picard) a hardboiled detective romp.
Intriguing Season 2 preview like Mage mentioned I would like to see the history between Guinan and Q too.I'm curious what the Romulans will be up too the Romulan spy Oh and Laris too.
Where's she going to go? The Romulans now know she's responsible for the failed evacuation. She'd face more merciful treatment in Federation prison than with the Romulans.
I'm just curious if they'd bring the Oh character back in season 2. I listened to a interview with an actor who was returning as a Romulan from season 1 on Youtube who worked with Oh on the borg cube and he mentioned there was a rumor she might return. I can't remember his name sorry it's elluding me right now.
Since that Stargazer model appears to be unchanged, that probably means if they show the exterior of it in a flashback, it won't be changed much. That's also not the same Stargazer model from Season 1. The one in Season 1 was fully coloured model, this one is yellow/goldish like the one in TNG.
It's actually John Milton. "Paradise Lost" seems to summarize the series thus far (Federation falling from utopia).
