General Computer Thread

Ah - so this is an example of:

"We didn't invent it, or the other thing either but, we're going to pretend we did and beat them with lawyers to extort money...because it's obviously legal do so...right?"

^^^
"You say you haven't been the same since you had your little crash
But you might feel better if they gave you some cash
The more I think about it, Old Billy was right
Let's kill all the lawyers, kill 'em tonight"
--Get Over It, The Eagles

I don't know much about current day IBM but in the past their army of lawyers would be enough successfully invade a small country... any opposition would be crushed in suits&ties&Samsonite suitcases..

In this case: KILL!!:evil: KILL!:evil: VIOLENCE!:evil: DESTROY! DESTROOOOOOOOOY!:evil::evil::evil:

unless they've some how come up with brand new evidence I fail to see how this case can get anywhere in the courts given it was pretty much already been found to have no merit.

I'm sure they'll file in the home of the patent troll - the East district of Texas.

yeah that move was probably as dodgy as $3 bill.

The BVI one of the biggest tax havens going.

as for their software, I couldn't find a copy to play with through fair means or foul.

Looking on the net for images and most come back with the 2 decade old SCO desktop (I had a legel copy of SCO Unix many years ago).

The desktop was ugly as the arse of a rottwieler.

SCO was used for the back end of the Micros-Fidelio Hotel Managment System and I had a client that used it but couldn't afford to the support.

UGGGH.

^^They are in the USVI, FWIW, not the BVI.

Interesting timing since we're talking forever lawsuits but Google v Oracle ended today at the SCOTUS in a 6-2 ruling in favor of Google.

Can't say i"ve ever heard of the U. S and still seems a strange place to relocate to.

As for Google VS Oracle few would have sympathy for the later especially for what it did to the Sunmicro base.

Country between Mexico and Canada famous the world over for Hollywood, its arrogance, its consumerism and a lot of backward thinking.

That's what I get for posting on my phone while at the chiropractor's :p
