Spoilers "Superman & Lois" Season 1 spoiler discussion!

It won't be this season, but I fully expect in subsequent seasons one or both of the teen boys will gain some Kryptonian powers, and they'll start assisting Clark/Superman and Lois in their adventures either openly and in public, or covertly/subvertly; and we'll eventually get some sort of "Team Superman" even if it is only all in the 'family".

I just hope it really doesn't evolve into your typical Arrowverse show, which they really did quickly with the second season of Supergirl.

I'd be down with that. The core cast of this show is great. I just don't need the S&L version of Felicity/Cisco/Winn/Brainy, nor do I need Superman becoming just one among an ever-increasing horde of costumed goobers who have to be serviced with storylines, so that he ends up a guest star on his own series.

Right now i believe there is little risk of S&L following the Arrowverse formula - by now in a typical show they would have already formed the team of Tech Guy/Girl, secondary support fighter and some mentor type character. This is all currently missing from S&L and thank god it does, i can't stand anymore "I've hacked into [insert super secure government system]" or some halfway elaborate team combat scene ( which never looks as well as a really well done movie fight, where the actors had weeks and months to prepare and train for).

As i said - the show seems to focus elsewhere and so far i really like it.

I got caught up over the last couple days, and I'm really starting to love this show. The cast is great, everybody has been giving great performances so far. I've been really happy with the way they are splitting everybody's storylines up, they're doing a good job of giving everyone screen time and moving their stories forward. It also seemed like they've lightened the tone up a bit more since the pilot, with a bit more humor that brings it more in line with the rest of the Arrowverse.
So is pretty much every Kryptonian who isn't a part of the House of El evil?

One of them uses their powers just like dad, and the other is a battery. He collects solar power but he can't use it himself.

If the writers want to be real assholes, these two kids have to be in physical contact, holding hands, to maintain peek super man level powers.

But this is going to be funny if they ever meet Green Lantern, and their power battery.

Is the Fortress of Solitude different in this compared to Supergirl?
In this it's just been a small cave with a pedestal in the center, but I thought there was a lot more to it in Supergirl. I know there was at least the robot, who we haven't seen any sign of.

Getting serious Kryptonite Powers from Smallville season one from that kid. :)

Edit: Dear god it is Kryptonite powers.

Superman and Lois
Season 1 - Episode 4 - "Haywire"

Clark/SM / Lois: Lois asking Clark to be her surrogate at the town hall already smelled like a problem waiting to happen, and although she says she understands that he had Superman business to deal with, she blurts out that she feels like she's the last on his priorities list. Why should she expect better time/dedication management from Clark? They have teenage sons--one who needs to be monitored / mentored, and yes, there's the Superman business. She complains to Lana how romance is not really there, but in a marriage with kids and major responsibilities, its not going to be Year One Marriage every day.

Further, she's feeling like her identity is lost because of her failures in relation to Edge troubles, but she signed up for the Smallville move, so logically, no one should expect the kind of life and career granted by the big city would flow into a small town.

Jonathan / Jordan Kent: Jonathan always defending his brother--asking his father to allow him to be special, and now he regrets it. How did he not know that was coming. SEE NOTES.

Fellow student Tag Harris--his arm injured by the explosion caused by Jordan--is undergoing some transformation...either being exposed to Kryptonian powers has some mutagenic property for humans (which I concluded was happening before Jordan said the same thing), or he's already an unknowing experiment..and sure enough, I predicted Edge had something to do with Tag's issues, probably using the X-Kryptonite mined in other towns to experiment in smaller trials.

Sam Lane: Ahh...Sam says the military is afraid of Superman, Thaddeus Killgrave (who hates Superman) is transferred from a Metropolis prison, only to be freed by Intergang for a--frankly--pointless diversion in this episode.

The second Lane let it slip that the Department of Defense has a "school" for kids with powers, I assumed Lane--thinking Superman is unreliable (and buying Alt-Luthor's story) will use the kids as his own super-force, much like the reason the "Ultimen" were created in the three-episode arc of Justice League Unlimited.

Edge/Kyle/Lana/Sarah: Six years earlier in Saskatchewan, Edge and his team tracked some glowing object, which fell to earth, which he referred to as the "resurrection"...

Notice how he tests the waters with how far he can pull the chains on those he controls, such as the way he referred to Lana as "one of his." Lana was clearly disturbed by it, yet Kyle, ever enthralled by Edge's wallet--played it off as no big deal. Still, he's trying, and Lana--at least--tries to recognize whatever good there is to be found in him.

NOTES:
Between "Subjekt 11" (the man who attacked Lois in episode 3), Edge's X-Kryptonite "resurrection" plans and Sam Lane's own contingency plans, I'm hoping the series is not going to end up copy+pasting the metahuman arms race plot already explored on Black Lightning. One series was / is enough for that, especially when it produced many great, dramatic results.

Next week:
Jonathan is the odd man out, and Alt-Luthor makes his move, attacking Superman. Whether he's working with Sam remains to be seen.

GRADE: C+.

They should be using the same sets to save money, if Lois and Superman is being shot in Vancouver too.

Google says it is.

But it's a big place.

Calling it X Kryptonite is an obscure Silver Age comic reference. Which temporarily gave Humans and animals powers. I am guessing to avoid what Smallville did. Where standard Green Kryptonite which was everywhere could easily give Humans Powers. This X Kryptonite seems more rare.

Luckily the kid wasn’t doing anything “exciting” when he had that attack. That could have been messy. :)

Did they say X Kryptonite in the episode? Must have missed that.

Intergang and Killgrave will be back. They’re actual Superman villains. Who would have guessed Killgrave would be their first one.
One of the first Superman comics I bought as a kid had Killgrave. So that was a nice surprise.

Of course in the comics Morgan Edge runs Intergang. I would be surprised if no connection exists here too. Helping Killgrave escape might have been a test to determine where Superman is operating from now that his appearances in Metropolis have stopped.

That is what Morgan Edge said when they looked in the hole.

It was evident from Hoechlin's opening moments on Supergirl that he was born for this role, but Tulloch is a revelation here. Combined with writing that really understands the character, she's well on her way to being the best screen Lois ever. She's got the same humanity and grit that made Amy Adams great in the role, but thanks to the long-form storytelling of a TV series, she's getting the opportunity to bring dimension and complexity to her characterization in ways that Adams wasn't afforded.

I wonder if Hoechlin could have imagined that in playing Superman he'd ever actually get so good an acting part. He spends most of his screen time playing a guy dealing with an at-least-above-average-for-broadcasr-TV version of life drama. Dude's raising kids, being married and trying to juggle a high-stress career.

In the animated series it was Darkseid who controlled Intergang. I seriously doubt that’s the case here.

so do people who get powers from X Kryptonite become X Men?
