Most Disliked Episode of TOS, Season 1 - 2025 Edition

I believe season one of TOS is the best season, overall, of ANY television series in history. Science fiction, drama, comedy ... does not matter. For me, it's remains the single greatest season of a TV series ever, edging out season one of the original TWILIGHT ZONE.

It will always be my "comfort food" season of a television show, and I revisit it often.
Magistrate, would Firefly in the correct order be close?

MeTV shows TTZ every night at 11:30. I'm occasionally catching episodes I haven't seen before, but I've yet to watch any stinkers. Some were outstanding, but none are 'alternative factor' bad. I'm guaranteed a half hour of good entertainment. I do wish Rod Serling hadn't burned out writing and producing it.

This is a great take and I have been thoroughly enjoying watching S1 intermittently over the past couple of months or so. It's so long and varied that it has something for everyone. I rank it below S2 and S3 for reasons that are hard to explain even to myself—some of it has to do with optics and the later brilliant use of Scotty that didn't come into play until mid-S1, as well as personal preferences like particular guest stars, dialogue, and story choices—but it's not like S1 is anything less than masterful as a whole. You can make an argument that Kirk/Shatner was most compelling in S1, and there's something about the atmosphere of S1 episodes that really draws me into the show and the premise, even if I feel as though the two later seasons "look" more "correct" to me and use the Enterprise better (which is of huge importance to me).

I find myself often wishing they'd kept the look of the sets and uniforms from Corbomite or Where No Man.

I could see why leg men might not cotton to NO MAN.;)

Ha! Actually that costuming idea from Where No Man would have been fine with me over the decidedly non-military women's Starfleet outfit on which they settled—possibly even preferred by me in fact. (Even most female guest stars got pants, and then there's the TNG example of how nice it was when Jellico forced Troi to put on an actual uniform.) But the muted colors of the uniforms, while intriguing, don't do it for me. Give me goldgreen, that really nice shade of blue, and operations red all day long.

And the set changes from Where No Man to Corbomite were great ideas too. 👍

Over time, had there not been fashion changes, a guest appearance by Katharine Hepburn could've been a distinct possibility.
