Spoilers "Superman & Lois" Season 1 spoiler discussion!

I'm a little surprised by how much I'm liking the show. It doesn't knock my socks off or anything, but I find it enjoyable enough.

It's a new, different type of Superman story without resorting to darkness from him as a character. He's still Superman, still as moral as ever, just dealing with different types of problems than we've seen him tackle before.

I don't know if it's sustainable for 8 seasons or anything, but at least a few.

None the less, I got a Non vibe.

I hope not. We've already got an alternate Luthor and recast/redefined Sam Lane and Morgan Edge. I don't want to see new/contradictory versions of any other Supergirl characters. There must still be plenty of characters left on Superman's bench that Supergirl hasn't already poached.

But hey, if there were a second version of the character, would that be Non binary inclusion? :D

Don't know if you saw the episode but
He's toast

The thing I disliked about the Zod-Supes fight is that if IRC Supes doesn't ever try to draw the fight out of the city.
Wouldn’t have mattered. Zod would have just gone back in. He wanted mass destruction.
Plus the city is massive

By Krptonian standards Metropolis is a thatched village.

He was going to bulldoze the whole thing regardless.

Killing the people didn't matter either.

Sex was going to be outlawed.

This was the last generation of naturally conceived humans... If he won.

Humans were going to be clone race too, and their numbers reduced to something manageable, until they finally stopped making new humans, because The new Kryptonians needed less help keeping the trains running, and they had enough robot building factories.

Huh those scenes aired on TV in Canada. So I guess Canada gets the extended cuts. Probably because we don't have it on an online service.
Maybe less commercials in Canada?

A non sequitur?

@thribs @Guy Gardener Doesn't matter if he was unsuccessful; He should have been shown trying. Liked about everything else in MoS except that indifference to the city's peeps during most of the fight.

I'm also liking the current show. The story and cast are strong and they've kept me interested.

I think the indifference toward bystanders is just Snyder's views on what a hero is. He sees heroes as people who do whatever needs to be done, no matter the cost.

Thank you. Sick of people forgetting that Superman wasn't in a position to dictate the fight as easily as some people would have you believe.
The thing is, this is all fiction. It was the writers and the directors who decided to put Superman into a position to not save civilians, and also to not really care too much about it.

You don't mean on the TV broadcast version? Because it was my understanding the extended cuts were exclusive to streaming. (Unless you're not in the States? Don't know about broadcast versions elsewhere.)

Yup: I'm in Canada.

You might recall, after superman returns came out, people were nearly unanimously clamoring for a villain that superman can punch. Snyder gave them exactly what they asked for, and they started complaining about too much punching...

Classic overcorrection.
"We want Superman to punch some one!"
"Ok: how about he punches people through a small town (trashing it), through a city (trashing what's left of it), then breaks a guys neck?"
"Jeez dude, who hurt you?

It's a little bizarre how Man of Steel seems always to find its way into any Superman conversation (and I've been plenty guilty of it myself, though I'm trying to do better). We've got a bright, shiny, and quite wonderful new show to talk about, and here we are drifting into debates about an eight-year-old film, about which everyone who cares has already had their say two dozen times over.

Incredibly divisive movie, and one which unfortunately separates Superman fans into armed camps, when we mostly all just liked the same fun, goofy, idealistic stuff before.

His movie his call but very un-Supes to me.

Thank you. We are not Monday-morning-quarterbacking Supes actions here but the choices of TPTB that made the film.

Right now the show has a very good mix - part family drama, part teenage drama, part mystery and some superheroics for good measure. Who knows how long they will be able to keep the balance and interest, i hope for quite a while but right now it is working very well.

The super-heroics are very well done. And Superman is doing a nice mix of Superman things. I also like that Lois gets to be Lois Lane. The BvS extended cut had her doing an investigation, but these first few episodes have done a great job at really showing her character. People often argue about whether one version of Superman is the "right" version, but rarely discuss Lois Lane who is best done when she is a take no s**t, fighting for the story, investigative reporter. I hope that what we've seen of her story so far is only the beginning.

Thank you. Sick of people forgetting that Superman wasn't in a position to dictate the fight as easily as some people would have you believe.

Only because that's the way it was written. I love the Man of Steel too, but the fight scene at the end was just a waste of money and screen time for me. Not because of Zod or Superman's decisions because Zod and Superman are fictional characters whose actions are dictated by a script. A script that could have found a very different and satisfying ending.
