What properties or shows are you surprised nobody has rebooted?

If you want a more bonkers fantasy anime take on the concept, I recommend Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle. Most new dimensions that they traveled to would last for about 4 or 5 half-hour episodes before they moved on to the next world. There was also a bit of a quest arc where they had to retrieve all these magic feathers. It also felt a bit like the Key to Time arc from Doctor Who.

I think that helicopters are expensive. It seemed like there were a lot of vehicle based action shows in the '70s & '80s but then they changed it to either people on starships yelling at viewscreens (Star Trek, Babylon 5) or more one-on-one fights (Highlander, Hercules, Xena, Buffy the Vampire Slayer).

Yeah, I was kinda the same way. I dropped out once Niles & Daphne got together at the end of Season 7 because I was losing interest anyway and I was terrified that they would eventually have them break up just to add more drama. Ultimately, they didn't do that. And now, when I watch reruns of the later seasons in isolation, I think that the show kept up the quality pretty well. The problem was that the show ran out of ideas after Season 6 and seemed to spend a lot of time repeating itself in Seasons 7-11.

I liked the bit where they implied that Carol's first husband was the Professor from Gilligan's Island.

I would love to see them do a new Muppet show that went back to the variety show format of the original. Maybe now instead of the stage show they could do it as more of an SNL kind of thing.
Muppets Now is probably the closest they've come.

They actually did do a sequel miniseries to Invaders. It starred Scott Bakula. (David Vincent had a cameo as his character from the original series.)

To be fair, I don't think they need to be rooted in their era, as some interesting things can happen if they drop it into more modern settings, but I think the original premise and styles should be taken into account. A good example would be the many different versions of Sherlock Holmes, which have put him in different eras, where he is still at heart the same character. I think context is everything. I just get annoyed when a production fundamentally changes the character of the setting into something completely different.

Speaking of Sherlock Holmes, I've become annoyed that some of the recent productions haven't even been British or been played by British. The recent Will Ferrell/John C. Reilly movie was an awful watch for a Holmes fan. Before that we had RDJ as Holmes, when Jude Law should have been Holmes rather than Watson.

I think they missed the opportunity to tackle the Late-Night Talk Show format with Kermit in the hotseat. Good way to have special guests along with what's going on behind the scenes.

They should bring back Eastbound and Down for a limited series. Surprise they haven't done it yet. Watch Kenny Powers try and navigate woke culture to not be cancelled. Make him a Sports Broadcaster who has to save his job.

I was a disappointed we didn't get more show within a show stuff with Miss Piggy's show in The Muppets.
I was thinking more like something along the lines of SNL, All That, or In Living Color.

Logan's Run. I know there have been many attempts but nothing has ever come to fruition. The plot, from the novel and the movie is practically something out of today's YA novels.

Ark II was a fav of mine from childhood. It had (even then) a strong environmental slant. Could be a big winner today with lots of "we told you so" stories as the intrepid crew ride around cleaning things up after environmental collapse.

Yes but Ark II was made in the optimistic age haha...... Today it would be uncomfortable watching because it's so close to truth. A remake would be neat though.

Sapphire & Steel. A remake was in the works at one point, but the project was eventually cancelled.

    Horatio Hornblower.
Doesn't even have to be a reboot from the ITV/A&E series. Gruffudd is old enough to play Hornblower in his later years of the novels, now.

Oh, I'd love that. He was so great in that. I was disappointed when I heard they weren't doing anymore.

Actually I just realized we already had funny Lost. It was on TBS called Wrecked. I thought it was pretty good as well. Jason

I remember when Peter Benchley's Amazon came out and it was described as a scary Gilligan's Island.

They keep trying to do a new spin on the old Muppet show format, Muppets Now being pretty close, being a series of skits. I think they need to go back to parodying other stories like they did with A Christmas Carol, Treasure Island and The Wizard of OZ (two of which are actually really good).
