I did want to talk about a...mindblowing...comment from Kurtzman in another recent interview about Discovery Season 4.

There have been many kinds of villains over the course of Star Trek. What happens when the villain is not actually any kind of living, breathing entity, but something else? How do you solve that problem?

Kurtzman is seriously not aware that there have been numerous non-personified antagonists across Trek history???

I mean, I am glad that it appears they are moving away from a "bad guy." But seriously, has the man actually watched TV trek?

I think his aim is at something morpheous and unliving, like a idea or ideology.

But...less than half of TV trek has involved a "bad guy." Anomaly of the week is a well-work Trek trope, for instance. And there are tons of characters which serve as antagonists but not true villains.

None of my favorite Trek episodes (City on the Edge of Forever, The Inner Light, Duet, The Visitor, Far Beyond The Stars, Living Witness, etc.) involve any sort of villain.

Ok, but that doesn't mean that it appeals to all people. Kurtzman enjoys different things and wants to explore different themes. The fact that it has been done before doesn't preclude his question. Unless I am seriously misunderstanding something here.

Kurtzman's tease made me think of Chabon's "Alterity" on Picard. Be another way to tie DISCO and Picard together. Doesn't fit the non-living thing but I would like to see the Sheliak again. I guess they breathe, something.

Burnham fans are curious about the fate of the Burnham-Book relationship. Kurtzman said that “there will be interesting new challenges,” in that relationship. “No good love story is really good without a lot of tests of that love,” he said. “So she’ll be going through some of that too.”

Oh boy. SMG better start hydrating now because there's going to be lots of TEARS! I hope the show keeps her trailer well stocked with Gatorade.

And what was Control, exactly...? :vulcan: :brickwall:

More Kurtzman Trek, YEAH!
More brilliant scripts and dialogues!

I'm picking up a strange energy anomaly!
It appears the singularity is about to explode!
Weapons are at maximum!
Dammit! Solar flare!
We got a shockwave heading straight for us!

We are coming up against some limitations of the matter to matter kind of healing where you do physical to work on the physical

Would it have killed them to introduce one of the other Federation captains in season three? It would’ve gone a long way for future episodes.

Another question is, will the Discovery be sent to reclaim the shattered and lifeless hulk of the U.S.S. Enterprise that exploded during the Burn of 3069?

After all, NCC-1701 did save the Discovery's life and it would only be fitting for Discovery to recover the ship and her crew.

Vance may have been embarrassed to introduce Saru to the other captains, since Saru was such a bad captain. Now that Burnham is captain I'm sure Vance will be introducing her to everyone. Or he may just wait a month until she is promoted to admiral and introduce her to everyone as his replacement :)
