Spoilers Things that grind my gears about S3

Well, I can't, because I thought it was dumb. So you're shit out of luck. But. That one thing isn't enough to turn me off from the show. If it's enough to turn someone off from it, then there were probably other things going on too that they didn't like and this was just the straw that broke the camel's back.

I held it against "Unification III" and "Unification III" only. After that, what's done is done. I'm not going to judge every single subsequent episode negatively over it.

TSFS brought Spock back to life after he was killed off well at the end of TWOK. Nick Meyer stayed away from TSFS because he was against what the film had undone on a dramatic level. And as much as I like TSFS, he wasn't wrong. But you know what? He only held it against TSFS. He let it go for the subsequent films because it was after the fact. My feeling is the same in regards to Tilly. So maybe she'll be a Lieutenant in S4, making it a little bit easier to swallow. Though still not perfect.
Oddly enough as daft as it was I forgot about Tilly as XO pretty quick and moved on. Her actually doing the job was a lot less annoying than the I'm spartacus build up.

Blinking holograms I think will be my takeaway salamander moment from DIS 3

Until I see blinking holograms again I'll chalk up to Kovich being Kovich.

As for Tilly, I can justify it for me. I doubt anyone else will find it as satisfying.

I agree... I need help understanding in what (if any) reality in any military environment would the senior officer appoint an ensign as the number 1 officer unless all the other officers are incapacitated. I am a lifetime Star Trek fan. I am simply flabbergasted and confused. Help me please to continue watching... I love Star Trek.
Star Trek isn't real.

Is there a reason Tilly taking over as XO means you can't watch the show? I mean, yes, it was a stupid plot development, but whatever, just roll with it.

Regardless, given they digitally altered Tilly's uniform in the final scene from red (what she wore when the scene was filmed) to blue (as it appears in the aired version of the scene) it's possible she won't be XO anymore, meaning you should be able to watch season 4 without your sensibilities being offended.

wasn't it a chair with rotating lights? That’s what I remember...anyway, even an injection could no if nanites, so...
I think you are confusing Dagger of the Mind and Whom Gods Destroy. But I would need to revisit the later to be sure. It sounds like for Garth is more of a medicinal treatment, similar to contemporary antipsychotic type treatments.
but that’s when it was used improperly. In dagger of the mind, anyway.

It is true that Garth didn’t seem to remember things completely after his treatment, but that’s exactly why I used quotes for “cured”: he probably still had a lot of therapy to underwent.
It was so improper the equipment was dismantled in Dagger of the Mind, according to dialog.

it’s not: we’ve seen a technology to do that since TNG (or even TAS, but less definitely). The problem isn’t the technology, it’s that it serves no purpose. It’s the discovery equivalent of Galaxy Quest’s corridor with stuff that cuts and crushes you (and pretty much evokes the same response).
Or perhaps it is there that serves a purpose for 32nd technology that is simply unknowable to use ;)

Yep. The Enterprise was delivering the medicine that would cure Garth. Which Garth receives at the end.
CORY: Will intramuscular injection be satisfactory?
MCCOY: Intravenous is indicated unless circumstances make it impossible.
CORY: How long before it takes effect, Doctor McCoy?
MCCOY: Reversal of arterial and brain damage should begin almost immediately.
(Garth is having a treatment in the chair.)
KIRK: Captain Garth, I'm James Kirk.
SPOCK: I am Mister Spock, science officer on a Starship.
KIRK: The starship Enterprise.
GARTH: Starship. Starship.
KIRK: Yes, sir, the Enterprise. I'm the captain. (Kirk and Garth shake hands) Can I help?
CORY: No, Captain. The medicine seems to be taking effect. I can manage. It's very encouraging.
GARTH: Should I know you, sir?
KIRK: No, Captain. No.

You give me hope... thanks.

Thanks... agreed... I’m probably shit out of luck...no judgement of episodes... all the randomness of Star Trek is very entertaining... just looking for the logic or explanation of this randomness concerning something (officer structure) which has mirrored reality for so many years. It’s the one area of Star Trek which has impressed me all these years. I am still confused as to why the writers would storyline something so stupid. There are many ways to put Tilly into the spotlight other than 1st officer.

Thanks again... you are amazing... I didn’t know it was a tv Show... wow! I actually thought it was a military Document. I am no longer confused thanks to you.
