So, something I'm not really sure about. Why did Sa'Kul have to shut down the simulation? Was there something stopping them from beaming out while it was on?

There was no beaming out since there was nothing to beam to; this was not the driving force for the actions of the away team. Their attempts centered at keeping So'kal from crying despite having no pacifier at hand.

Supposedly, shutting down the holo was secondary activity originally, to see how badly off things were, and perhaps to regain the use of tricorders and weapons. But then the Elder holo revealed the key piece of information regarding So'kal's mental maturity: the need to confront fears. This made the heroes venture through the doors to the frightening place, at which they found the frightening thing - and the frightening thing happened to be the act of shutting down the simulation and seeing the corpses.

It did not result in the situation getting any better for the dying away team. But it did result in there being no more cries, and no more Burns. At that point, Saru, Culber and Adira might just have died, mission accomplished. But then the rescue happened.

I am surprised we haven't seen any Denobulan yet. What happened? How about a few genetically modified Sulibans... on the side of the good guys for a change?

Sadly, the season finale did not grip me. I gave it a 6, which is unusual for me because I do like the show!

So, I thought it was pretty much a paint by numbers story. In the prediction thread, my predictions were all right on. The Burn was caused by some technobabble (alright biobabble) and once removed, the Kelpian child was revealed to be innocent and unable to do it again. Also, predicted that Osyra would be killed an the Federation would join with them given her absence. And, finally, that Discovery would be the ship to distribute dilithium to the Federation Fragments (FFs).

Here's why it didn't grab me. Retaking the ship just took way too long. That type of story should be started and finished within a single episode (which has already been done multiple times in Trek history). This was derivative and drawn out. And, the external turbolift scenes were ridiculous! There's not that much space in-between the walls of the ship!

The reason for the Burn was utterly ridiculous. A child who screamed?! His DNA adapted to dilithium and made that possible?! Trek doesn't always do science right, but this was too much.

Did I hear right that Osyra was going to use pesticide against the Vulcan ships?! WTF?!

So the ship hijacking and Kelpien child stuff didn't grab me, which doesn't leave much else! I did think they'd introduce some new threat or thread at the end. They didn't. It just seemed lackluster.

I'm glad for those who liked it. It just didn't work for me.

the Federation would join with them given her absence.
i’m not sure this happened. I don’t think that the Chain is mentioned at all once the viridian is blown up, so they might have joined the federation, became less aggressive or still be mortal enemies, we have no way to know right now.

Pretty much agreed with everything else you jus wrote.

I appreciate you have now answered it. In which case, you don’t actually disagree with what I said. The only thing left for me to do is act on your earlier suggestion.
instead of actually answering any of my questions and actually engaging in a constructive conversation. Oh well, too bad, but I won’t lose sleep over it.

If we are to read the threat as real: It seems like some sort of shrapnel explosion combined with chemical weapons usage. It would mostly be a threat to Federation HQ and smaller/not well shielded ships. Fed HQ being the (relative) prize as it would be filled with civilians and have the government.

If we are to take her as having an information advantage: She pulled a corbomite maneuver on Burnham.

...Perhaps because they learned that the Emerald Chain is in the habit of throwing itching power in through those?

How was that supposed to work? Since when have starships been vulnerable to poison canisters being thrown at them?

Power of "cool" pew pew pews. Absolutely makes no sense.

Huh? Surely nobody wanted to destroy Discovery. I mean, who would have wanted to? Osyraa? Vance? Zora?

So nobody would seriously fire at her. But she wouldn't stop firing, either. So, endless pew-pew, until something gave.

Those other Federation ships are pretty useless as they couldn’t even damage the Discovery. A 900 year old ship no less
With the newest upgrades of any of the ships there? Sounds about right to me.
Now they've solved the Burn, next season they can search for where the heck that cavernous space is inside Discovery.
I once toyed with the idea of a DS9 fanfic where the Defiant crew realised their turbolift graphics indicate decks 6 and 7 when dialogue says 5 and the cutaway graphics only say 4. In my mind, the lower decks were a terrifying extra dimensional hellish bizarro land complete with faceless crewman.
So how fast exactly is their maximum warp now? I wish they gave us a sense of distance between destinations so we could get an idea.
Vulcan is very close to Earth and they got here in under an hour. They can’t be that far from Earth then
If they're smart they'll never specify it. Stargate never did and nobody questioned how long it took to get to or from Vulcan.

what was Vance trying to do, then? Especially when he orders t fire harder or something along that...

Well, ok, maybe they were just trying to disable it, still pretty unbelievable they came out of being attack by several federation starships and the viridian with shields at 50%.
