I've heard 2022 for SNW but who knows?

2/10. Definitely didn't like it. The rub-your-nose-in-it metaphors at the end were painful. For the forth time I think a full season of Kurtzman Trek is blown.

I thought he said he was only signed on for the third season. And he said that before the fourth season was officially greenlit. So it's possible he was only signed on for the third, then signed on for the fourth. That's what I think most likely happened.

There's a Star Trek Facebook Group that's all about Fat Shaming Tilly and Mary Wiseman with memes. It's probably the worst Star Trek Group on Facebook and I'm including any Group that says "TATV...(ENT)" wasn't that bad. ;)

Saru is the only Kelpian Su'Kal currently knows, so it makes sense for Saru to not want to break the bond he just made with Su'Kal as that might send Su'Kal into an emotional tailspin. And Su'Kal will have to make an adjustment to being around so many people.

And Tilly. I said right from "Unification III" she shouldn't be First Officer. It's going to be a permanent thing now it looks like, so she'll grow into the role, so she's still too green to be Captain.

Burnham's out-of-the-box, take-charge, think-on-your-feet approach is what got Discovery out of the mess it was in. And it made Vance wake up. I didn't think he'd ever consider making Burnham a Captain, but I'm glad he finally saw that they need someone in command of Discovery who takes initiative. Burnham made for a lousy First Officer, but she'll make for a good Captain. Much like how Theodore Roosevelt found being Vice President was limiting but thrived as actual President.

I’m surely not going to understand what it is by watching this episode, though.

Wait, they can still demote her first thing next season!

And starships that were not several hundreds years old!
the premise changed how many times now?

Agreed. In retrospect, I think they might have done better by leaving Burnham on the ship a couple of episodes ago: her character-bonding scenes were pointless and might have worked better giving them to Saru.
it was pretty obvious it would happen, though. Now I don’t think it makes sense that they will “try” to find a way to let him be visible: the holodeck on that ship isn’t supposed to be special, so any holodeck should be able to give him a body.

True. They will bring the show back, though: they’re filming season 4 already.

do they reattach for warp too? Here it goes my theory...

She forgot about ship having shields and pressurization, apparently.

He’s coming back: Michael says he will while talking with Vance.
Plan? Who needs a plan when you are green?
i anticipated the HQ being a huge, fleet-containing, ship in the interstellar void way back after episode 3 ;)

as Starfleet’s: Georgiu crushes one in episode 5.

i see what you did here. Neat.

or so she wants us to believe.

Unless Saru becomes first officer when he comes back.

Vance wanted the Federation to join the Chain ;)

They probably count as a Trill

name other typical or good episodes featuring that level of nonsense.

They could do that, but I wouldn't be too thrilled with it. That would be demoting Saru even though he didn't do anything wrong. I think it makes complete and total sense that he'd want to leave Discovery to help Su'Kal. If he left for any other reason, I'd think it would've been dumb. This made sense.

I think what I'd like to see is Saru working at Starfleet Command, directly under Vance, if he returns to Starfleet. Vance is the boss they report to every week, and he's in every episode. So if Saru works for Vance, we'd probably see him every week too. It would be like Starfleet Command is like Deep Space Nine and the Discovery is like the Defiant.

Technically, Discovery can just stay at Starfleet Command -- like it has been -- and just spore jump to whatever planet Vance sends it to. "Here's where we want you to deliver dilithium today!" "Here's who we want you to communicate with tomorrow!"

More importantly though, I think the issue of "Who's Captain of Discovery?" should be put to bed once and for all. Burnham is Captain. A lot of us thought it would eventually end up that way anyway. So let's leave it like that, now that it is. Don't change it now.

Burnham said he will come back, so if he stays on discovery it will feel like a demotion, no matter the role.
this could be nice. I don’t see it happening, though.

I loved seeing Sahil return but it sucked he had little more than a glorified cameo.

I thought it was ambitious but lacked time. 14 episodes would’ve been better.

    Things I liked:

Once again the season finale had some truly awesome pure science-fiction moments. Like Season 2’s Space Odyssey nod when they went through the wormhole, this one had some Total Recall moments and some other interesting stuff. Burnham getting absorbed into the data wall. Wall-E robots. Good stuff.

Nobody from the good guys died. Drama was had without death. Nice.

Some interesting character setups for next season. Book. Su’Kal. Vance. Aurelio.

Stamets hates Burnham again. Full circle, lol.

The music was damn good. Some Giacchino nods in there from his work on ST.

My guess is the production schedules of LD, Picard, and Prodigy don't interfere with each other since they're animated or filmed in LA, and don't share production facilities.

SNW and Discovery (and S31 if it moves forward) are filmed in Toronto. My guess is that they plan to film year round so that they can keep the crew more consistently employed throughout the year and spread the cost of equipment/space like the AR Wall over more shows.

CBS really wants Paramount Plus to succeed, so they probably want to get some Star Trek content out every month. I assume it was the original plan to have Discovery air last summer, followed by Lower Decks in the fall, followed by S31 around now. (LD+Discovery+S31+Picard = about 45 episodes a year)

As it is, I assume Lower Decks will be the next Paramount Plus series to return this summer, and hopefully Discovery will return in the fall.

Nice red herring with the Ina character. Many people, including me, thought she was a redshirt. But she survived.
