Spoilers Star Trek Discovery 3x13, That Hope is You Part II - Promo trailer

...But no, we don't know the name of Jaylah's species. There's even a tie-in comic that never mentions the species.

Timo Saloniemi

Adira looks cool in that makeup. I see they are hugging Grey - I'm guessing he appears solid in the holoprogram?

"Personal log. Stardate... whenever. It's difficult to concentrate. These past few seconds have been exhausting. Being forcibly jammed into a dangerous special effects wall by an angry Orion will do that to you, I guess. Times like this, I'm reminded of something my father used to say when he tucked me in at night. 'Michael, the light within you shines brightest on dark and starry days.' Time was, I didn't know what he meant. But right now, right here? As I stare into Osyrra's vengeful eyes and the dark and starry day does come? I finally get it. That hope, all along, was me. And I will not let you down, not a single one of you. Even if the very air I breathe is pressed from me by this powerful grasp, I will never yield. For we are at our strongest and most sanctimonious when the walls are closing in and the dusk gives way to twilight, lit beneath the starry skies above us."

I actually love Michael but I totally get it
IDK - overall I find Burnham's soul searching speeches much more palatable and tolerable than some of Jean-Luc Picard's speeches pontificating the 'rightness' of pretty much anything Federation related in a situation where he's dealing with an alien culture that has a cultural tradition/law he finds distasteful/wrong.

(See practically any episode where Picard dresses down Worf for doing something uniquely or culturally Klingon.)

Same with janeway. Man she could be full of shit sometimes. Like when janeway gave that smug 'i told you so' speech after Voyager tried allying with the kazon and it went south.

Yeah, because when she made an alliance with the borg, it was so much more ethical...

Don't even get me started on that. Horrible decision by janeway especially when it was later revealed that species 8472 could be negotiated with.
