Pineapples do not belong on pizza
No they don't, but I actually like it. Sorry, it upsets me too.
the exsistence of mustard is the proof that evil is real and is among us.
The bland stuff in a dispenser that you can eat with a spoon, or the proper English stuff that tastes like the sun and makes you gag ? I like that one !

That said, I wish I could still eat pizza.
Why not ?

Mustard period. I just find it too tangy with a bad aftertaste no matter what container it comes in.

And as for why I can't eat pizza anymore, the sauce gives me both violent diarreah and bad stomach acid. Its the same with spagetthi, although in that case, I can eat the noodles and meatballs by themselves with some parmaisan cheese just fine.

Heartfelt sympathies.

:(

Is it just tomatoes? Have you tried Prevacid for the acid?

No, it's all spicy food in general. Except mild BBQ sauce and ketchup. I can handle both of those, but only in very small doses.

I don't remember if I've ever tried Prevacid. Right now I take Omeprezole and Tums for that problem. And I eat alot of plain vanilla ice cream. That's not 100% effective but it helps.

Prevacid is Lansoprazole, which I've found to be more effective than Omeprazole, at least for me.

Have you tried making your own pizza and using tomato concentrate for a sauce? It's far less acid as it's made from very ripe tomatos of very sweet sorts. And as it has no seeds, it might not give you a diarrhea. Might be worth a try.
I frequently use tomato concentrate on my pizza bread :)

Pineapple on pizza is nummy. So is broccoli. Perhaps not both unless one flavor can shroud the other, while making you feeling good about eating something ostensibly healthy. So bring on the florets, woohoo! :techman:

On the other hand, what I believe don't work so well on pizza might include the following: Carrots, okra, asparagus, calamari, sweetbreads, haggis, tripe, and/or ginger... Yup, for me it's not so much. Well, maybe those thinly sliced ginger bits coated in sugar and baked for 30 minutes until they come out thin and crispy, but they're still no substitute for potatoes (which also have a flavor that seems equally incongruous on a pizza...)

So, here's my problem with broccoli on pizza. I like broccoli, & I don't necessarily think it's a bad flavor to put in the mix per say, anymore than say peppers, but whenever I've seen broccoli on a pizza, it's just a bunch of big old hunks of tree trunks on my slice.

Have some decency, man. I want a bite of pizza, not a mouthful of foliage. IMHO, the very best pizza has things diced up like peppers, or sliced down like onions, or even shredded like sausage. Then all these toppings can cook into the slice with the cheese & sauce, & gooooodness. You know, like a pie, dude.

So if someone diced or shredded the broccoli onto a pizza, I bet it would go over well with just about anyone. I have the same issue with mushrooms. I would like them on a pizza, but they tend to get dumped on there like hunks of trash, instead of thoroughly cut up

I bet you even the disdain for anchovies wouldn't be as harsh, if it weren't for the fact that they're putting whole slimy little fish onto the slice. Nothing on a slice should be bigger than a pepperoni slice, & even that is pushing it imho

Edit: but this cannot be said of pineapple. That's just heresy.

actually, there is a potato pizza: slice leftover cooked potates thinly and use them intstead of the traditional yeast dough for pizza. Top with the ingredients you like and bake. A good way to use up all the leftovers in the fridge.
And - I hadn't known that myself - there is in fact a traditional Italian pizza topped with potatos: Homemade Potato Pizza - Two Ways - An Italian in my Kitchen
and Authentic Italian Potato Pizza (Pizza con Patate) with Yellow Idaho® Potatoes - Christina's Cucina

I can't agree with this, even if I didn't like pineapple on pizza (which I do). One of the best pizzas I had was a meat one with pepperoni and sausage slices baked underneath the cheese and mixed in to the sauce. So good.

I'll make an exception for that. That does sound good. Meats in general work better, even if they are a bit on the chunky side, especially cooked the way you described. I just can't abide whole produce chunks mascarading as pizza lol

after seeing this debate meme.. I was reminded of the pineapple debate thread.. so I posted this debate topic here ... not a kind of debate needing its own thread but a type of debate that can piggy back atop something like a pineapple debate... to keep the debate going --- and to confuse people 000 or not.

I say number 2. Should be worn at the base of the neck like people.

What, the difference between ocean gray or military gray? That really is a whole other debate.
