Have you not had the Pubert experience in TNZ?
I already went through 'pubert-y" many, many years ago.
As much fun as that was, I have absolutely no desire to go through it again in my sixties.
As much as I hate to admit it, Sir Patrick Stewart is as well-known (perhaps even better known) among lay movie goers for his role playing Professor Xavier in the "X-Men Movie" Series than for playing Captain Jean-Luc Picard.
And as a professional Shakeperean trained actor, he excelled in almost every movie or TV series he was on, even if they were complete box-office flop:

Yes completely yes that is the whole point of rating and critiquing a show. What is the point of having a rating based thread if we can't say that something like a crying scene was over used or used in the wrong situation
How can the crying scene be used in a wrong situation?
The point of having someone cry in a scene is usually to display that the character is feeling a strong emotion due to the events in the scene. If the events of the scene don't seem very emotional or high stakes to the viewer they may rightly feel that was a bad choice by the writer.
If you have characters that cry at every small emotional scene some viewers may feel that the writer is not trying to portray emotion but more that the character is unhinged mentally.
Another problem and one many seem to have with DIS is a "boy who cried wolf" situation
Lol! Oh yeah sure Shatners Kirk is not a household name it never ever has been Pine made Kirk who he is today. Ah ha ha ha ah haha ha. Sorry but you TOS haters have no idea how popular Kirk has been and contributes to be. Shatner is known everywhere. Not even sure where you are getting your information.
You've posted on here pretty much every day defending the "crying" for what must be coming close to 2 weeks now. Great use of your time buddy.
Never seen someone get so emotional over nothing. I guess you and Burnham have something in common and that's why you have such a soft spot for the her.

Hell TNG figures don't sell as well as TOS figures so what does that tell you?

The quality of the criticism during the first two seasons was a lot better than this. Of course, a lot of the time, it was also coming from much better posters.
I don't mind if someone disagrees with me. I don't mind if someone challenges my opinion. But this is like junior high. Please let me know when the adults come back to weigh in.
The problem with your explanation is that there is no universal measure to determine how strong the emotions are in response to a given event.
This reaction is always individual and depends on many factors, including cultural ones. Therefore, if in your opinion, the scene shows a too emotional reaction, you are entitled to do so, but that does not mean that you are also right.
Otherwise you could, for example, consider that the only correct emotional response is shown in Scandinavian crime series. If so, the rest of the world must be unhinged mentally.
Of course the reaction is always individual and of course my opinions are only in my opinion.Should I not give my opinion is unless it has universal agreement or something.
I'm watching a show and giving a review of what I think the show done right and wrong which is exactly the point of this thread so I have no clue what your problem with that is
I much prefer this to the season 1 criticism which always seemed to end up being a pile on of alt right ejits
The thing about emphatically universal claims like the one you just made is that it takes only one contrary event to invalidate them. So, I can tell you that Shatner isn't know everywhere these days. I teach courses in communication and culture, and from a sample size of about 500 college-aged students, only about 30 knew who William Shatner is. In fact, marginally more people (~55) knew Kirk from the 2009 films than TOS.
This is all informal, but I don't think the gloating laughing is necessarily earned in this case.

Well, since it seems that if someone thinks there have been too much crying in recent discovery episodes he’s a discovery hater...
That TNG is less popular than TOS. Which it is.
