Wonder Woman 2 Anticipation Thread

I'll take that as a "no" then.
Oh... You're one of those people... Lol. Didn't think we'd see that on this message board...

I am seeing more and more hilarious ads these days for things like plays and concerts next year, and I'm like... Don't these people know what's coming this ever winter???

What do you mean? You really think we'll ever gather in large groups again? Don't be naive. Save your mental health and embrace the new normal.

That is such a defeatist attitude I cannot share. We will get a vaccine eventually. Never tends to be permanent, but we still have plenty of time left on this earth.

I think it's naive to think most people will tolerate current restrictions on large group gatherings when a vaccine becomes widely available, not to mention treatments.

We will get a vaccine eventually.
We probably have two excellent ones already; it's mostly a matter of distribution at this point.

I just think that by the time everything is fully open, we'll have been closed for so long that we just won't miss it anymore. The "new normal" will just be... Normal.

Going back to WW - in theory it will come out in the UK on the 16th - however... there is a good chance lockdown will be extended as part of a madcap scheme to allow restrictions to be lifted for Christmas.

My prediction is Wonder Woman actually ends up highly viewed at home on the 25th via other means (there is no culture of going to the Cinema on Christmas Day).

That assumes that people haven't been gathering in groups during the restrictions. Most places have tried at various points to reopen restaurants, bars, etc, and then been forced to close them again because *too many people were going there* and not following social distancing. And that's without even considering the illegal parties.

People haven't gone cold turkey on social gatherings at all. They've just been forced to space them out a lot more.

So outside the US, what do the options seem to be? Simply a waiting game until it reaches our streaming services probably?

Nobody in my life feels this way. Even if it takes another year or more, once that vaccine is in our arms, there will be gatherings and outings IMMEDIATELY. "Absence make the heart grow fonder" and all of that. My family and circle of friends have this thing called hope. And science is thankfully on our side. It's all just a matter of when. No biggie, we can hang tight until then.

I believe you are 100% right. But there are mass gatherings NOW, at least where I am. We have a Democrat Governor and big pockets of Trump supporters throughout the state (New Mexico) who are all too happy to ignore her. I happen to live in one of those red areas and I can tell you that we're having mass gatherings and parties all over the place. And wouldn't you know it, our cases are spiking through the roof. My wife, who is a teacher, was on a Zoom call with her school's other teachers and they were all talking about their big travel plans to see family over Thanksgiving, something we're expressly being told NOT to do. My wife was getting so mad she dropped off the call.

I'm dying to get back to watching movies in a theater and going to see plays (and be in them). But we'll be happy to view WW84 from home this time around. I'm excited to see it and was very happy it will be on HBO Max.

Ah. You’re one of those people...the kind who thinks millions of years of evolution can be radically altered by a temporary disruption of the overwhelming socializing nature baked into our DNA. Hmm.

People have been going to stadiums and theaters since the Ancient Roman days or before, and you think a one-to-two year pause due to a public health emergency that will get resolved will put a permanent end to that?! :rommie:

I have a feeling by this time next year everybody will be back to having big parties, going to the movies, and concerts. There is no way people going to give up going to big events forever. Once the vaccine is out and gets distributed there will no reason not to slowly start allowing all of that kind of stuff again.
Hell, even with the virus some people are still having big parties and stuff, there have been people all over the country getting in trouble for doing big events with tons of people at them. If are willing to risk their lives for that kind of stuff, there's no way they are going to stop once it's actually safe.

What do you mean by resolved? Virus will always be there now... If your vaccinated you'll be in less danger... And if you're not you'll be in only slightly less danger.

Whether the virus is "still there" or not, people are not going to spend the rest of the entire existence of the human race social distancing. Eventually the corona virus is just going to become something like the flu, it'll be there, it'll still kill people, but it will be controlled enough that we'll be able to go back to the way things used to be.
We've had massive plagues that have killed millions of people before, and people eventually went back to their old lives. I don't see any reason to think Covid-19 will be any different. Like I said before, there have already been numerous reports of people getting in trouble for having big parties, and church services and stuff like that. So if people are willing to do that kind of stuff during the pandemic, there is no way they are going to stop once it's over.
I already went to the theater once to see Tenet since the pandemic started, and if WW1984 wasn't being released on HBOMax, I'd probably be going to see that too.

You literally just described the seasonal flu.
And gatherings have not been an issue with that.

Basically, all that's going on now is you're saying you won't go out, which is cool. And every other person is responding with "But eventually we will. Enjoy!"

You linked to a stand-up comedian's twitter account? As opposed to a top immunologist saying 1 week ago "Certainly, it is not going to be a pandemic for a lot longer because I believe the vaccines are going to turn that around."

Ohhhh, I get it now, well played! Nevermind, at least I wasn't the only one to fall for this joke.

Back to the real topic here, I hope we get this movie available in Canada, it was probably the one I was most looking forward to this year.

I hope we get this movie available in Canada,
I don't see why we wouldn't. Theatres are open in Canada, we got Tenet in the summer, and the other new theatrical releases are being released in Canada. And HBO Max is available in Canada, so for those not comfortable going to the theatre, that option is still open.
