given the frequency we see power outages and malfunctions on Star Trek this strikes me as a horrible idea. All uniforms are holographic, and can be changed at will. Think comm-badge=mobile emitter/personal transporter.

So, here they are -- the future Starfleet uniforms finally appear in 3x05 "Die Trying"
First impressions:
- Grey.
- Starfleet still likes a close fit.
- Admirals still have redundant duplication of insignia!
- The new combadges are there.
- The tick / check-marks on the collar definitely seem to have significance.
The new uniforms seem to come in several basic types:
1. A more formal variant with a jacket and a coloured stripe down the right side of the body
So far, we can see white and also (on background extras) blue and golden yellow.

2. A less formal variant (a one piece) with coloured sleeves and yoke and a different torso and legs.
So far, we have seen what appears to be dark blue over the standard grey and white over what could be the grey but might be the same dark blue (the lighting makes it a little tricky to be sure.

3. The Admirals' variant of the formal grey jacket
No coloured stripe down the front but a coloured patch at the front of the collar and matching piping around the edge of the collar and the shoulders. In this case, the colour is red. There are black epaulette / shoulder straps with gold piped edging and insignia that seem to follow the mirrored pair of insignia on the collar.
The close-up shots also reveal that there's quite a bit more construction detail in terms of the texture / quilting on the shoulders that can be seen from a distance.

what kind of nitpick are they doing this time?

None really. I posted it because I thought it was a good breakdown, not because they were doing anything nitpickt.what kind of nitpick are they doing this time?
Different collar devices, different epaulets.
Based on the uniform, I think she was the host after Senna Tal, but before Grey. What is odd, however, is that she appears to be wearing the "newest" version of the combadge, the same ellipse with rank markings down the left-hand edge that the Disco crew will soon receive. This seems out of sequence. Even if she was the host immediately before Senna, then she ought to be wearing at least the same badge that he is wearing, if not yet another different, earlier version given that, best guess, she could have been host some fifty or perhaps substantially more years prior to Senna.
Senna Tal's entire uniform seems to be a pre-cursor to the new Admiral's uniform. The guys seem to have completely missed that Tal's combadge and both the collar and shoulder insignia are clearly from a very different scheme to those seen on the "current" uniforms.
Both Grey and Adira seem too young to have had Tal for 12 years so it is possible.Based on the uniform, I think she was the host after Senna Tal, but before Grey.
That would make more sense given that Senna Tal's message was 12 years ago.
Plenty of time to jump to two more hosts by then.
They are right about the fact that LD seems far more aware of the fact that Trek fans care about these things where as sometimes the PIC and DIS just threw uniforms and ships at us without caring about the details.None really. They look like Death Star commandersSo, here they are -- the future Starfleet uniforms finally appear in 3x05 "Die Trying"

I agree with the lad from Trekyards who was saying that they look like really nice uniforms but wouldn't stand out as Trek in a sci-fi convention. He went for The Expanse you say Star Wars someone else said Babylon 5 and my mind went to Bill Adama which isn't great tbh. They look like Death Star commanders
Perhaps this is intentional. We don't know what post-Burn Starfleet is like. It may be worse than Section 31.I agree with the lad from Trekyards who was saying that they look like really nice uniforms but wouldn't stand out as Trek in a sci-fi convention. I like the side strip one though as it's got funky TMP vibes
The contrasting Gold & Silver Combadge is nicer IMO than the monotone Bajoran looking Combadge.Senna's outfit looks cheap but the combadge is a much nicer version of the new design than the one that just looks like a plain gold egg in the light
I don't think anyone thinks they look bad but something about the colour or more the cut makes them look generic and I think a bit cheap tooPerhaps this is intentional. We don't know what post-Burn Starfleet is like. It may be worse than Section 31.
Well, I really hope not. I don’t need discovery to turn good a now evil federation, I’d like them to be a game changing asset to help an already good but relatively weak one regaining their status.Perhaps this is intentional.
