This is a really good point. If they had used Dax, I would've been happy with CGI versions of the hosts we knew as of DS9.
Basically non-interactive like most of what we saw. Similar to this 12 Doctors scene:

The thing that doesn't make georgiou space hitler for me is that she is the product of a culture that is inherently brutal. I don't think she can be blamed for what it made her become.
But we've seen Georgiou make choices for the greater good in staying with discovery. She could very easily have stayed in the 23rd century and tried to rebuild her power base. Also we've seen georgiou accept Saru's authority which is huge given she used to view his people as nothing more than cattle. Georgiou is subtly changing and growing and i think she deserves a shot at redemption.

I was so afraid they were going to turn it into another "computer turns evil" plot, and am so pleasantly surprised they don't seem to be going that route.

The Sphere Data is benevolent. Unlike the Enterprise-D holodecks and Quark's holosuite.

So we sometimes stretch to find connections where they do not exist, but I do wonder if two specific design elements for the ep were intentional...
The dude in red, his costume suggests maybe a passing resemblance to the one worn by Terry Farrell in Equilibrium. (Bare arms with a round cut at the top.)
The building seen on Trill reminded me just a little of the Dax home on Sappora VII in Prodigal Daughter.
Unrelated thought: I guess the shuttlebay door is broken and is just permanently open now? They didn't even close it for movie night. A little power loss to the force field and they're all spaced.

It was kinda used to turn the DS9 crew into James Bond villains, especially Sisko.
That wasn't quite a holosuite failure as something external overwhelming it: the emergency transport of the crew from the exploding runabout.

That's why I said "kinda". It was a bit of a stretch, but it was really the only time the holosuite was prominently used in the series. Whenever Bashir and O'brian went to the holosuite we never actually saw the program. I wish at the end of What you Leave Behind they would have at least shown some of it.
Yes, because we definitely judge integrity by whether someone uses the word 'fuck' as opposed to being willing to admit she made a mistake and act swiftly to correct it.
It's the least complicated thing they could have fixed on the ship but I guess it's not on the important list, and yes one power surge and they could have all been spaced.

They could have written it any way they wanted, but it’s hard for me to see Culber pulling a phase pistol and blasting people. It would have been out of character for him, and as adamant as the Trill were about taking Tal, or.at least, not helping Adria, I don’t see how the mission would have worked out with just Hugh and no Burnham.I agree. I was disappointed when the show moved the pieces hard to one side to make sure Burnham went with ie they were trying to make up for the almost Burnham-less ep 2.
The Trill thought Tal was just “existing” inside Adira which was an abomination to them, because the two had not actually joined. I don’t see how they could have realistically been talked out of taking Tal, or at least refusing to help Adira connect with Tal, without some amount of aggressive persuasion.
Out of universe answer for Burnham over Culber was probably that they thought the episode needed an action scene and didn’t feel the need to write Hugh out of character.

noticed that, and also the medical log in the beginning. I suspect that some of the writers have now forgotten he is not CMO.
correct, a few days, with huge strain on the organism and the symbiont totally suppressing the host, hardly a successful joining.
Just a thought: how long do Trill hosts live?! I think Tal had six hosts and that clearly covers some 900 years, as one of them was in late 2380s uniform (the one familiar with that era’s technology, I guess)!
Also, he was like number 4 and they seemed to appear from the oldest to the most recent, given that Senna and Gray were the last two...this means that either the symbiont passed a lot of time in the caves for some reason or each host can live several hundreds of years! I guess that Senna was indeed an admiral from before the burn, after all...
