What is that supposed to mean? It's still Earth. They didn't have time to find anything but the tree.
.... and they should have stayed to upgrade their shields at a minimum. One shot from Earth weapons took their shields to 0. It's irresponsible to force out into the 32nd century with little to no protection.
As cool as it would have been for the symbiont to have been Dax, it was still well done. And nice to know the Trill are still basically nice people.
The computer had some great ideas to help the crew relax - yoga, hyper-baric chamber, therapeutic coloring books, interstellar shopping...
Imagine if Kerblam existed in the Star Trek universe.... They could all do shopping, even from the Bridge. Sir we need pot plants to place around the Bridge, shall I order some?
It goes insert with explosive effects on active warp drives. Perhaps a warp ship or two were landed on the surface, and while they rebuilt their world after with programmable matter many lives were lost.

"shrug" it was just a fun thought..... The no money thing has been talked about forever and will continue to be argued about forever.
The whole point of the Joined Trill is that they seek out new experiences. It's probable that the vast majority of them were not on Trill when the Burn happened.

Just finished watching. Best episode I've seen of DISCO so far. Or at least up there with the Talos IV episode.
I went 10. Loved it.
Right now, my mother is working on quilt for my brother's wife. We are all close and she has advanced kidney cancer. She is crocheting (sp?) it by hand and printing out pictures of family members & places we have visited on the various squares.
We are heading out to visit them next week. I have never watched a Star Trek episode with my mom before. The quilt scene resounded with us, to say the least.
Even aside from that strange coincidence, I loved it. More episodic. A complete story. Loved the Calipso turn as well.
The CMO did not get a dinner invite.

Not really. The symbiot having been in Grey first is part of the point.
I usually harp on plot stupidity, but that did not bother me. The improbable conversation with dying character has been going in since before Shakespeare.
I thought the CMO treated Detmer, covered in blood, after the jump.
That was Dr. Pollard, who might be the CMO, except for Culber outranking her.
But, if she is the CMO, it doesn't bother me. Culber might be a specialist, like that Commander from Season 1, and the medical staff doesn't worry about rank.
I'm glad the Bridge characters are getting more to do and they are giving Keyla more to do this series, and the others. So happy they are going this way.

That's funny to me because I used a similar IBM "portable" 5155 computer around 1987. It was basically the size of a desktop with the built in monitor and a flip-down keyboard.
Couple of things from the Tril storyline being mentioned that I want to comment on...
First, the mention that there has never been a joining with a non-Trill. I immediately took this as a *succesful and lasting* joining. Riker carried Odan, for what, a few days at most? (I'd have to rewatch the episode.) Combined with the knowledge that the Trill guard their symbionts like a dragon guards its gold, I am not surprised that emergency joinings like that would never be allowed to last. Either the non-Trill host would die or the symbiont would be transfered to a properly trained Trill as soon as one became available, as was done with Odan.
Second, the fact that we did not meet or hear from Dax. Timespan aside (and the novels established that symbiont lives can be *extremely* long) I'm glad for this. Had Dax been present instead of Tal, its previous hosts appearing would not have allowed us to focus on what the final scene was for. The hype would have been all about seeing Jadzia and Ezri again, and pulled too much attention from the goal of this being Adira and Gray's moment to reconnect. Likewise, a Dax as another cameo character wouldn't have really served the story at this point.
Thirdly, Gray's death. Yeah, a promising character dying always smarts, but it was the most powerful way to shape Adira and provide a reason for her being unable to access Tal's memories. I hated Culber's death in season 1, but we have learned that this doesn't need to be the end of the story. I will just wait and see what happens next. Adira and Gray were a lovely couple together in the few scenes they had, and with the precedent we have from DS9 with there being various ways that Trill can communicate with previous hosts, I have no problems at all with 'ghost Gray' being a recurring thing. Just imagine feeling both sides of a loving relationship at once, combined with the knowledge that one of them is dead. This has great story potential. And as with Culber and Stamets, I also appreciate that there was no mention of gender/sexuality at all. This was only about love, no matter who the people involved are. The promotion of the actors has perhaps not been a fortunate combination with a character death like this, but I prefer not to judge the two at once. Casting is very important for how a character is portrayed, but the story comes from the writers and I prefer to judge both on their own merits.
Finally, what I think adding Adira to the cast has done well is how it's giving the existing characters, other than Tilly, a chance to take on a surrogate parent / older sibling role. I loved Stamets and Adira last week, and while having Culber go down to the planet instead of Burnham had potential, I appreciated her 'older sister' interactions here. There is no baggage between Burnham and Adira as there is between her and the rest of the crew, creating an interesting chance for Burnham to be more free in her manerisms, much like she has been with Book.
