Discovery or Andromeda?

It was mentioned in episode 3, that many of the ships that got destroyed during the Burn were Federation vessels. The Federation ships was perhaps targeted just like the Systems Commonwealth ships were during the Nietzschean rebellion.

Maybe before the Burn, the Federation had made peace with a very powerful enemy similar to the Magog and one or two member races disagreed with the peace plan and launched the attack.

It could be the Andorians or even Humans who bought down the Federation like the way the Nietzscheans bought down the Systems Commonwealth.

The implication thus far is that it was a natural disasters with no power being responsible. I don't see that changing.

Beyond a similar conceptual premise (and lots of Sci-Fi stuff has used similar premises over the years), I'm not really seeing a whole lot of correlation between Discovery Season 3 and Andromeda.

Because there isn't. It's just the usual we have to compare completely unrelated properties to one another because...

The "Godlike A.I." from the "Picard" season finale would like a word with you... ;)
What does that have to do with Discovery since we're talking about the Burn, and there has been implications from BTS that it is a natural disaster.

The fact that there ARE other groups and entities in the Star Trek universe that could have caused it for a reason.

I remember when Andromeda premiered around the same time Voyager returned for its final season. I tried to watch it, but it just felt so low budget compared to VOY, so I was like.... pass. I'm happy to see Discovery do the concept where it was originally intended as, a Star Trek spin-off.

Despite what the "fans" of "Andromeda" will tell you, the show improves after the first couple of seasons, like most do. The first season or two is agonizing cliches done in the most watered down manner imaginable; but in Season 2's "Ouroboros," the show suddenly finds a voice of its own. From then on, it....still has major issues, but is also one of the most imaginative space operas I've ever seen.

I don't know that I'd call myself a "fan" of Andromeda, but I felt there was a noticeable decline in the show around the time RHW departed.

Stamets explicitly called out the impossibility of all of the dilithium in the known galaxy suddenly exploding at the exact same point in time. Sure, he's a skeptic, and Star Trek isn't hard science fiction, but the writers don't include lines like that for no reason. I seriously doubt the Burn was just a random chance of fate.
