As I was reading the Axamonitor report, part of me was thinking "they're going to do a nine part documentary about a film that hasn't been made?"

And then the devil in me thought "no, they're making a nine part documentary about this thread about a film that hasn't been made!" ;):lol:

Hopefully this will finally shut him up (if not put him behind bars where he belongs).............

I watched part of the livestream last night (maybe the first 15 minutes). Despite the (legal) protestations to the contrary that he has every right to use them, Alec said they won't and that they're reshooting the parts Paul Jenkins did because they supposedly weren't very good according to third parties; it'll cost around $15k for two additional shoots to finish the film iirc. Also, lots of cute little dogs.
Have Alec said anything about who the new director is?
As for the stuff Jenkins shot not being very good, I have to wonder what they'd be saying about it if Jenkins was still working on it.

I have read this thread for literally years.
There are so many films un-submitted,.
Regardless of the quality, that is my bottom line.
Several Phase 2 projects: Gone.

I was convinced the settlement included something about CBS keeping away from Garth or Axanar since it was never mentioned in Discovery, and that it had to be more favourable to Alec than he deserved, since he carries on.

Turns out he just broke every term in the CBS/Paramount agreement and continues to do so:lol:

Reading all those documents, I'm reminded of a quote by Harold Livingston about his battles with Gene Roddenberry over the dueling versions of their TMP scripts: "When something's good, you don't piss in it to make it better."

Alec had a real chance, working with Paul Jenkins and his company, to get Axanar made in some form. And he just could not stop himself from screwing it up. I don't even think it's part of a deliberate plan to keep the scam going; he can follow the Fandom Menace playbook of stoking middle-aged fanboy rage at the new official Trek productions to keep the money coming in. He just cannot stop himself from crapping in his own hat.

This would be a fascinating subject for an E! True Hollywood Story if Alec had ever gotten within sniffing distance of Hollywood.

Indeed. I had no idea he had this little cabal of brown shirts to do much of his dirty work, and that he was not above getting his own hands dirty as the case required.

Funny to see the means Peters will go to, to protect his gravy train.
Are the people he threatens really a danger to his gravy train, though? It seems to me like the vast majority of the Axanar faithful can't be swayed by facts or logic. It seems more likely that Alec just can't handle anybody saying anything about him that's not 100% complimentary; he can't stop himself from hitting back. Reminds me more than a little bit of a certain Cheeto-tinted serial tweeter who's always in the news.

I agree that I don't think any of those people really threaten what he has going. But who knows what is actually going on inside his head at this point? He's gone full Jesus-on-the-cross now.

Not a perfect plan, as there are plenty of middle-aged fanboy ragers - myself included - who have just as many problems with Axanar as we have with 25%-Trek...and dealing with Alec's bullshit is what inspired about half of us to this state.

is it legal to simply make a confidential settlement agreement public?
Paul Jenkins is not a party to the settlement, therefore he isn’t bound by its confidentiality. As a reporter, I am not either, plus I’m legally entitled to quote anything that is submitted as a public exhibit to a public lawsuit.

How did Jenkins get it? While I can’t reveal that, based on what I do know, competence at keeping things confidential over yonder in the Axa-camp has never been, shall we say, their strong suit.

Unfortunately after reading that the following is clear:

1) Alec Peters has openly violated the settlement agreement in MANY WAYS.

2) CBS seems to not care enough to begin arbitration or further court proceedings that would enforce/enact any of the penalties or remedies outlined for 'breach of settlement'.
^^^
Alec Peters is banking on #2 and so far has yet to be 'burned' by anything he's done WRT Axanar/Axanar Studios since he signed the settlement agreement. And yes, even though Paul Jenkins is mentioning this as part of his defense to Peters' defamation lawsuit - in the end, UNLESS CBS decides to take action to enforce the settlement in a further filing (either to enact and start Arbitration, or whatever means were agreed to, to levy/enforce penalties for 'Breech of Settlement'); nothing will happen to Peters WRT the settlement.

If the Fansets pin makers decide to sue CBS for not protecting their license contract (because of AP’s unlicensed pin merchandise being allowed to continue), CBS will take notice and start to care. Or, at least, they should if they’re smart! Methinks they may be dangerously close to a breach of contract themselves.

For example, I’m sure Fansets and other merchandise licensees pay a metric fuck-ton of money for the privilege of using the Trek license. EVERYONE will take notice if CBS does not act in a timely manner to protect their contracts. Otherwise, what’s the point of buying the license if any fly-by-night operators can come along, undermine the licensing process, and suck money off the IP without paying their vig?

I have to wonder if the merger with Paramount really kind of munged up their legal department to the point they are unable to efficiently act against things like this anymore and it’s nothing more than a roaring paper tiger at present.
