Do you think we’ll see any “descendants” of previous Starfleet vessels in season 3? Like the enterprise-Q or R? (Enterprise J was in the 26th century so this is 600 years later so who knows what actual letter they would actually be on by now?)

They'll recycle existing models with the bare minimum of changes (if any, see the season 3 preview showing the Burn) to represent future ships. Does that count?

In the Short Trek “Children of Mars” they showed the DSC Zimmerman-type tugs, but by the start of the actual Picard show, they had newer designs for the tugs of the evacuation fleet.

As for DSC season 3: Yeah, we got a couple of wrecked ‘new’ 32nd century Starfleet ships, but it looks like they also recycled season 1 production assets as generic 32nd century ships. I’m hoping that when the Discovery actually makes contact with a 32nd century Starfleet vessel that’s intact, that they’ll have made a new design. But I’ll be very surprised if we see a 32nd century Enterprise.

In the season preview, someone is handling an object marked "NCC-4744***" (the * portion is obscured by their fingers). The USS Relativity was NCV-47443, and since it's a timeship -- and S3E01 established that a ban on time travel was in effect -- there's a high probability it might be related to this object..

And I know I sound like a broken record, but the 26th century Enterprise-J was from a different timeline.

The battle was from a different timeline. Nothing says the ship won’t exist in the Discovery timeline

Since we know absolutely nothing about the prime universe Enterprise lineage past the Enterprise-E, any speculation is just that - speculation. For all we know, they stopped building new Enterprises during the 25th century.

I have few wishes with this season but the J not appearing would be highest among them. Honestly, that ship is very ugly and doesn't suit the aesthetic at all.
Man, don't get my hopes up.

*sighs* too late. Hopes are up.

    You’re a very strange guy/girl. :)

I doubt they would stop building Enterprise’s but I doubt we will get anything like that in this show. Discovery doesn’t do that sort of thing sadly.

Hmmm. That sounds about right. Strangely. They expanded into six digits and another set of prefixes with a suffix that implies this new numbering scheme has been around for a while.

At the rate they were burning through Enterprises in the 23rd/24th centuries, they'd probably be well past the Enterprise-Z by the 32nd century. What would the next designation be? The Enterprise-AA? So, maybe we'll see a Sovereign/Akira/NX/Universe-class hybrid U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-YZ-A

Six Enterprises in 150 years, give or take. So four per century?

    23rd (second half): Original, A
    24th: B, C, D, and E
    25th: F, G, H, and J (I'm assuming they skip "I" and "O" because they look like "1" and "0")
    26th: K, L, M, N
    27th: P, Q, R, S
    28th: T, U, V, W
    29th: Y, Z, AA, BB
    30th: CC, DD, EE, FF
31st: GG, HH, JJ --> The Burn!

No. The irony is not lost on me that they'd be up to the Enterprise-JJ. :p

"But isn't the Enterprise-J in the 26th Century in ENT?" Yeah, but what I have isn't exact, just approximate. You could have the Enterprise-J still in service in 2501 and it would technically still be a version of the 26th Century that Daniels takes Archer to, even if most of the E-J's service was really in the 25th.

I'm just hoping that if we do see the future Enterprise, it's at least a hundred years old, held together with prayer and duct tape, is the last Starfleet ship to have a working dilithium recrystalizer, and as such is treated with kid gloves and kept well away from any real danger.

They could use/be inspired by STO designs, which include ship classes of the 31st century.

The easiest way to solve the Enterprise running out of letters is to change the registry number, or the prefix (NCV?).
