HBO Max Streaming Service Thread

HBO Max and Roku really, really need to work out a deal now since these shows are moving to a platform I can't watch n my actual TV.

Thing is, while WB owns all of those, they still need to make deals (similar to how they had to pay a shitload of money to themselves for "Friends"), because of royalties to the cast and crew. Theoretically, another streaming service might offer to pay more for the rights of, say, the Superboy TV show than HBO Max is willing to, so they have to take that offer because the makers of that show would get royalties relating to how much was paid. This goes back to how AMC put The Walking Dead on their streaming service without taking offers from other services and thus getting sued by the producers.

So, it might just be that HBO Max is evaluating how much each of those back catalog titles is worth to them, and how much others would be willing to pay.

I could see some other companies being interested in the DCAU shows, but I don't know if there's enough interest in stuff like Superboy, or Lois & Clark for anyone outside of WB to want them.

But HBO Max would still have to pay something. In this regard, they may not want to pay enough for all the shows all the time, but more of a rotation model that is cheaper for them.

I watched Prometheus for the second time today, and I really enjoyed it again. I'd put it right after Alien and Aliens as my third favorite of the series.
It's got gorgeous visuals, a great cast, and the story takes some interesting twists and turns.
Once I'm back to renting movies from Amazon, Covenant will probably be my first rental.

I just finished Season One of Doom Patrol. I love how weird this show can be! The highlights are Brendan Fraser as Cliff, who is just Brendan Fraser in a robot suit and Rita Farr. I'd never seen April Bowlby in anything before, but she absolutely kills it as Rita.

I also finished both seasons of Harley Quinn. That show is hilarious! It might be funnier than Rick and Morty. Bane cracks me up, as does Frank the Plant. Also, I didn't think Kite Man would grow on me as much as he did  Can't wait for Season Three!

Technically he's actually Riley Shanahan in a robot suit, with Brandon Frasier's voice.

April Bowlby was absolutely hilarious as Kandi in Two and a Half Men.

Rita Farr and Basil Karlo should have an act-off.

Very good show. Just wish it had more of an HBO budget instead of a CW one.

The Peacemaker news was a big surprise for me, I was not expecting a The Suicide Squad spin-off series like that.

They are the most iconic Green Lanterns by far, so if the passed them up it must be because they have plans for the somewhere else.
I wonder if they're going to turn Alan Scott into a GLC member, or use his origin from the comics?
