Well, it could also be an interesting development if Boimler pulled a Mariner and got himself demoted back to the Cerritos- indicating just how much she has rubbed off on him.

I think this is a likely scenario.

Yar went out because of a blob and Shax went down fighting Pakleds. Who really wants to go out like that?

Wow, if an episode ever deserved a 10 it's this! Awesome! Although I do feel there was something of a missed opportunity by not seeing Wesley on the Titan... Still, this series has been one surprise after another, and it's an amazing addition to the lore.

If they do show Titan again, I think it'd be nice to show Crusher hanging around.
It would just make sense for Boimler to hero-worship the kid who became an Ensign without even having to go to the academy. lol

I think (and hope) that it isn't a full reset with Boimler moving back to being an Ensign and the Cerritos, and my only reason for assuming that is that since this is a cartoon, there isn't the expense of having to maintain two different sets and all of those logistics. The animators will have to draw a whole set of Titan backgrounds I suppose...

It would just be disappointing if they Harry Kim'ed Boimer.

I loved how the people of Beta III had gone back to worshipping Landru. It's the type of thing that if they did this story on TNG, it would have been too unbelievable and labelled a "re-hash". But now, here we are in 2020, and millions of Americans are getting ready to vote for a big orange turd again, even though that big orange turd is the worst president who ever presidented! And these knuckleheads actually believe that he's "very persuasive"!

Yeah, kind of like the people wanting to vote for a "creepy, touchy feely guy" from a previous administration, rather than nominate a proper candidate who isn't part of a political machine, perhaps?

While it's nice to see Boimler getting his dream assignment at the end of the episode, it's unfortunate he was so passive in this particular episode. Really the heroes of the episode were Rutherford and Mariner. Boimler didn't do much other than talk with Mariner about their relationship. It would have been better if we saw Boimler do something amazing, rather than just be told he had a spotless record.

I'd say Shaxs was the real hero.

He played his role in helping repel the Pakleds.

But also, I think it is a more powerful statement that his quiet long-term excellence is enough to earn him a dream job rather than a single example of being a Big Damn Hero.

Riker's XO was a Saurian (of the Discovery variety). I assume using Vale may have been a bit of a copyright hurdle too much.

There's no copyright hurdle. CBS/Paramount owns the copyright on everything that's in the novels. They don't have to ask permission, they don't have to licence, they don't have to pay the authors, they can just go ahead and use everything they want, because they own it all.

This was a really fun episode that rounded out a fun season. I think the best thing about Lower Decks is the way it leans into love for all things Trek. Some might consider it too "insider" or navel gazing or whatever but it's a show that isn't afraid to embody Star Trek in all its lovable earnestness. 10/10.

What a great season finale. I also found Riker and Troi’s appearance here far more satisfying than what we got on Picard.

All I know is now I want a titan show starring frakes and Sirtis also shouldn’t Deanna be pregnant with Thad by now? He’s born in 2381

Plus, we know Riker retires in a couple of years anyways so if Boimler eventually returns to the Cerritos it can be because of a change of command and crew.

It’s also possible that Lower Decks takes place in the novel continuity, which is now different from the Prime TV show continuity.

Most likely there will be some takin on the whole 'grass is greener' thing, realizing the Titian isn't all that it's cracked up to be, perhaps with its own lower decks/version of Beckett. (It should be Weasly.)

Or perhaps:

Hey Boimler! Who's the best pilot you ever saw?"

Riker: "You're lookin' at 'em."

They’ve said the show is canon, so I imagine it is part of the main continuity.

They'll use what they can from the novels and disregard what's incompatible with Picard. So things like using the Titan design from the novels won't be a problem.
