Did anyone watch the debates tonight?

I think Chris Wallace handled the moderation very well.

What questions would you have asked?

The questions that I would have asked President Trump tonight are:

"President Trump, why did you and Vice President Pence, allow Senator Mitch McConnell to lie to the American public about President Obama's pandemic prep plan, when you both knew that outgoing President Obama conducted a pandemic prep plan for your staff members?
President Obama and Vice President Biden set up the White House National Security Council Directorate for Global Health Security and Biodefense for future preparedness for pandemics.
Why did you cancel the Council Directorate that would have taken action before the Covid-19 virus spread to the U.S. and then on top of that, both yourself and Vice President Pence allowed Senator McConnell to lie about the Obama era pandemic prep plan?
Why?"

With the Black communities being affected disproportionately not only does the black community have to ask, but the white, muslim, latino and the rest of communities have to ask the same question.
"Why did you cancel a global pandemic council that would have been able to deal with the pandemic and then allow McConnell to lie about Obama not leaving behind a pandemic prep plan?
Why?"

He was totally ineffectual and got railroaded by Trump throughout, while also not fact-checking him on even his most blatant lies. He was terrible.
the problem is, i am not sure short of a mic cut, which he wasn't given the ability to do, what he could have done. Had I been him I would have ended the debate after 20 minutes or so of that garbage, but that also would not have been fair to Biden.

I havent seen It live because Americans live in the wrong time zone. What little of It I saw was two children pretending to be adults who were talking/screaming over each other

It wasn't even close to being on the same level. Even Wallace said Trump was far and away interrupting more then Biden, and frankly, once Wallace lost control of Trump at the start, Biden didn't have much choice but to interrupt back or else Trump would have taken up all his time.

Wallace wasn't allowed to cut the mic, but he was too deferential to the office (which Trump disrespects daily) and let Trump run roughshod. He should have forcefully told him to be quiet instead of meekly asking politely. It might not have worked but what's the point of moderating if you don't even try?

As I was watching I thought over and over that they should have only allowed one mic on at a time. It would have been funny actually if Biden called Trump a clown and we had only heard a mumble in the background. (Saying this as a person who thinks Trump gives clowns a bad name.)

That was the worst "debate" I've ever seen. It makes me long for the days of Obama vs. Romney or McCain. Or even Bush vs. Gore or Kerry.

Somehow Trump managed to interrupt Biden even more than he interrupted Hillary Clinton. He kept talking over him. Doesn't matter if you agree with them or not, at least let them speak. You present your argument, they present theirs.

Polititically, I'm far closer to Trump's position. I don't fear Covid, I don't do woke, I don't trust the nanny state, and I think gun control means using both hands to aim your Glock. Be that as it may, what I saw was appalling. Trump's handlers need to outfit him with an electric collar, so they can just push a button and zap him when he gets out of hand.

Figure at least 100 million of us are native born citizens who are over 35 years old.
And Crazy Donald and Sleepy Joe are the best we can come up with.

I just watched it.
The debate paints a very good picture of something i see in all parts of the society, be it america, europe or anywhere else in the world:
People have no respect for each others position and forgot how to talk to each other.
If you are not open to facts and arguments, but your whole position is "Other Party Bad" and all you can come up with are lies and insults, why even do a debate?

Well thats the two party system for you.

What I don't understand is, after the President says on national television that he aligns himself with white supremacists, some voters still are "undecided." What is there to decide? That one issue all by itself tells you everything you need to know.

I think that's been the most depressing, disgusting and horrifying revelation about this whole hellish term: that my country is not even close to what I thought it was. To support someone who says Nazis are "good people," and calls out to the "Proud Boys" during a Presidential debate....I have no words. That's a level of iniquity that should bring all discussions to an end.

And yet...it doesn't.

That's the country I live in.

Some people just don't care about it. They are not directly affected by hate and violence themselves, but instead just want "the economy" to be boosted by his policys.

Enough with this "both sides are equally bad" shit. That kind of apathetic low-information nonsense is how we got Trump in the first place. Biden is no saint, he's far from perfect, he probably wasn't most people's first choice, but he's light years ahead of the Trumpster fire. Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

Trump was given the gentlest of softballs by Chris Wallace. All he had to do was condemn a white supremacist group on camera to score an easy point. He couldn't fucking do it. He said "Proud Boys, stand back and stand by", and now these neo-Nazi pieces of shit are all crowing "Standing By, Mr. President" on their own special snowflake version of Twitter that they had to make up because regular Twtter wasn't racist enough for them. If you can't take a side against the guy commanding white supremacists to "stand by" then what does it take?

And just in case you think this is a one-off fuck up from Trump, he's been given the chance to condemn white supremacists by reporters on numerous occasions since his "very fine people on both sides" remarks about the neo-Nazis in Charlottesville and he can never bring himself to do it. I wonder why that is?

Trump refuses to commit to a peaceful transition of power if he loses the election, something that's been a staple of every prior American presidency until now. Are you incapable of taking sides against someone who plans to remain in power even if he loses the election?

He's a wannabe dictator who commands Nazis to do his bidding. It's not even subtext anymore, it's straight up text, written in all-caps bold Comic Sans, 'cause on top of everything else he's a fucking idiot.
