What the hell is wrong with this country?

Are there no Australian companies that could have run the trains and trams in South Australia, it had to go to a company out of France? Like why is this even allowed?

There was zero local companies that could have put their hand up to run this stuff or were locals shut out of the tender process?

As for movies Muriel's Wedding induces cringe but I don't think its cultural cringe like the Dundee movies.

Excuse me Muriel's Wedding is a work of wonderfulness. Toni Collette is a Goddess.

Also did you know that Australia has made movies since the 90's? It's true!

I really don't understand what you are getting at here.

Muriel is about one of the only Aussie movies I don't like anything else I can watch.

Toni Collette is a goddess and I have liked everything else that she has been in.

Okay, then what was that blurt about Aus movies being cringey and what did it have to do with trains?

I don't care who owns the trains, runs the trains, whatever. As a lifelong pubic transport user I've seen it all. The worst the trains ever ran in Melbourne was when they were government run. Privatization improved them as far as performance and maintenance, much of the maintenance being catch ups on decades of government neglect. Serious neglect.

On the one hand compared to train systems in some countries we suck. But it is a huge, extensive network which is better than no network or token public transport. A lot of the complaining comes from people who have no personal comparison to living elsewhere with stunted or absent public transport. At this point we will never be Japan (though we are cheaper) as far as efficiency but very real steps are being taken towards the future all the time. At least it is not getting worse!

NSW ICAC raided LNP offices this afternoon. Interesting. Bruz.

Check out YT, Friendlyjordies had a journo (I say journo...) ring him up to try and get stuff out of him, and they got permission to record him. The journo (I say journo...) was too chickenshit to read out his own questions that he had faxed/emailed earlier! It showed him up as a shill for Barilaro, he looked really bad. Read the comments too, some are gold.

What was my day like? Well, in the AM, I had a battery of eye tests done, the conclusion of which was, don't need surgery and eye drops to lower pressure are working, and vision is better, and had a nice lunch with son (who dropped me/picked me up). So, all good! When I go home in the PM, my flatmate informed me she'd lost her job, and her friend's dog, that she'd been looking after, expired literally in front of us. The dog was elderly, so there was no surprise, but brought back unpleasant memories of when I went through that myself. The owner came round, many many tears which I retreated from (not my grief). Just watching Nightwish reaction vids now.

How has your day been?

Still trying to get my head around it. Fabulous cricketer, ahead of his time in a lot of ways. And 59 is just wrong. :(

Canadian Club and Dry, with chips.

This is Matt Canavan's car. Matt Cananvan is a POS. You'll see it in a second.

Yep, saw that when it first happened. Thought he was a POS then, still think he's one now, how he got re-elected is a mystery to me. He straight up lied and people just... believed him!
