This is probable. Speaking of my own career, however, I’ve been a coding trench fighter since the beginning and hope I can continue doing software development into retirement (another 15 or so years). I’ve had many opportunities to jump on to the management track, but I never wanted to do it because 1) I couldn’t afford the initial pay cut and 2) the interpersonal bullshit would quickly force me to jump into a wood chipper head-first. “Get the fuck over it, pretend to act like an adult for once and get back to work” is probably not an effective management style these days. I recognize my limitations.
