Spoilers The Ships of Lower Decks

Vancouver and Cerritos look to be taking care of the same kind of problems. I'd say the Parliament-class is the new California-class.

Eh, Tendi and Sam both reacted like they were on the Enterprise. Also, the Not-Barclay looking guy acted like they were different.

Plus, the Parliament-class vessel literally overshadowed the Cerittos in the opening.

never owned a blu-ray player in my life.
They've gotten pretty cheap - I highly recommend them, especially if you have an HD, 2K or 4K TV. If you're still using an old-school NTSC CRT-type TV, then yeah, you're not going to get much out of it. The disc resolution is higher than the TV will show and you're not likely to notice any substantive difference.

Every once in a while I stumble upon them at thrift stores or some one posts to here trying to get rid of VHS.
I still have all of mine.
Back then they came two episodes per tape.
Again, they're in a box packed away around here somewhere.

Who ever has to go through my stuff after I've "moved on", is going to find a massive treasure trove of Star Trek, Star Wars and Sci-Fi stuff.
(at least 50 years worth)

I volunteer!

Star Trek was enough of a point for me. Been very happy with my purchases over the years.
I know many have made the arguments and tried to assist me in understanding the visual difference. And, maybe logically I get it but just there benefit in my mind. It's a weird cognitive block for me.

But, then, because Star Trek has never been enough of a point for me like you ;)

Compared to the Cerritos, I imagine the Vancouver feels like the Enterprise. Especially if she is part of a just rolled out new class of ships. Having bigger adventures doesn't mean the Parliament isn't the short/long term replacement for the California-class. The California-class likely had big adventures before she seemingly fell to the lower rungs of Starfleet importance.

Not sure why? Just a video format.
It is a completely irrational feeling. It probably will make little sense. Other than the constant drumbeat of "4K is better!" "Blu-Ray is the future!" from videophile friends of mine...just, no thanks.

For folks who video quality is important, Blu-ray/4K is a major step up, even from HD streaming. Though the upgrades in PQ aren’t important to everyone.

Back in the day, I was actually hoping for Panasonic’s HDDVD format to win over Sony’s BRD. The compression was arguably better, less lossy, etc., etc. IIRC, BluRay became the standard due to the greater flexibility with interface design features and other interactive capabilities it had that HD apparently didn’t. Personally, I’d take better video quality over fancy main menus any day, but they didn’t ask my opinion when the standards decision was made. Then again, I’m biased, as I’m very much an anti-Sony bigot, so they probably wouldn’t have listened to me anyway. :)
