Season 3 Finally Lands October 15

I wonder how long it will take for her to be reunited with the Discovery. Hopefully just one episode with the premiere devoted to her adjusting to the future and finding the crew at the end.

I believe Frakes told it wasn't until the episode he directed (3?), that Burham is reunited with the rest of the crew.

I remember a time when you rather aggressively spoke out against anyone who dared voice a criticism against the Kelvin Timeline films.

You're remembering incorrectly. I like them fine but no more than that.

Indeed, you're still using the Kelvin itself as your avatar.

I am, you're right.

Not once have you ever complained on the fact those films have an overwhelmingly male dominated cast, you've never complained about the predominantly white cast of the movies or Khan being turned into a white guy. And you can essentially say the first two movies had an entirely heterosexual cast (with never a complaint from you on the matter), since Sulu's homosexuality wasn't established until the third movie,

1. You don't know that. 2. What a terrible argument.

and it wouldn't surprise me if you're one of those who insist that was actually Sulu's brother we saw him with in Beyond.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: Oh please.

I thought it was fantastic they made Sulu gay in Beyond. If CBSTrek was in charge, they would have introduced 5 gay crew members, just to virtue signal about how woke they are, the sledgehammer approach. THAT is my issue. But keep trying to paint me as some bigot who doesn't like gays or women. It's hysterical.

Can I say, that I am straight white male, so I have the credentials to state as indisputable fact, that the gender/sexuality/race distribution doesn’t bother me in the slightest, therefore everyone else can agree to any ratios being just about right?

I frankly think the discussion of ratios is ridiculous. It doesn’t matter. What matters is if you enjoy the story. Not everyone does and that’s cool. If people get distracted by ratios, it might be more about them then the story.

Ice-breaker:

What are you most looking forward to? For me, it's watching Burnham in this strange new time, basically Alice In Wonderland, and her waiting for Discovery. The waiting is something I'll be able to relate to now because it seems like so many things these days are just waiting.
I'm behind on DISCO and need to catch up before S3 starts, but having seen the various teasers and promotional photos, I'm most looking forward to catching up with familiar Alpha Quadrant races we haven't seen in a while. In the NYCC teaser, we catch glimpses of Andorians, a Cardassian, a Lurian, a Trill...YMMV, but that gets me super excited.

I'm also looking forward to seeing what David Ajala brings to the table. He was great as Manchester Black on Supergirl.

My biggest unanswered question going into Season 3 is how and why Burnham and the Discovery end up in different places.

Do they, though? Maybe they are just arriving at the same place at different times? Because of timey wimey reasons …

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Burnham enter the wormhole with just here Red Angel suit? Because in the trailer it looks like she's living in a stranded Discovery shuttle.

I'm looking forward to finding out why Mega Man and his friends are so pissed at Burnham.

The interior looks too small to be a discovery shuttle.

Though I wouldn’t be surprised if that was a redress of the set.

You are right, looking at it again, it does look too small and different. Wasn't her mother seen living in a kind of shelter on that planet? Maybe it's that? But then again, how would she have built it there?

I guess we'll just have to wait and see. :)

This is the time when we all turn into Veruca Salt - I WANT IT NOW!

Obviously something goes wrong while they in or while they are exiting the temporal wormhole.
Incidentally, I was watching Voyager's “Future's End” today, where the ship together with Captain Braxton's shuttle is being pulled into a spatial rift (or whatever) sending them both back in time. While Voyager arrives in 1996, Braxton actually arrived 30 years earlier. Maybe the situation in season three of Discovery will be similar and Burnham has to spend a couple of years alone?

Based on the trailer, it’s enough time for her hair to grow a good bit. It would take at least a year for it to grow that long.
