I guess...

We haven't had a good "New Trek is Bad" thread since...yesterday.

I added a spoiler tag because you're not allowed to discuss Star Trek Picard openly until the summer.

To answer the question:

I like DSC a lot. STP was okay. Short Treks are hit and miss.

I think that's a bit of an extreme spoiler policy, but ok. Your forum, your rules.

Personally, I really didn't like discovery and liked picard even less. They do have their good points, to be sure, but good TV they are not (IMO).

The short treks... eugh. I don't like them, but it's a great idea to experiment. Though I do wonder if experiments in such a short format are giving answers that are applicable to a longer TV or film format.

I can only say that DSC and PIC were not to my tastes. I don't think they are bad, and I think they had some very good ideas, but I just happen to not like the overall product. Also I'm getting kinda tired of the mystery box thing new Star Trek tends to do.

Aside from that I think new Trek has about the same amount of positives and negatives as 90s Trek.

I can't answer the poll, because my opinion is not the same for both.

Discovery is terribly written. There are some good aspects (it looks magnificent, as does Picard), but the writing is so bad that I stopped watching at some point. Worst Trek series, by far.

Picard: it varies. Some scenes are brilliant, others almost Discovery-level bad, as far as writing is concerned. In those scenes, it shows that some of the same people are involved with both.

Short Treks: No opinion. I've only seen Children of Mars.

I like Discovery and Picard. Gotta throw in Short Treks too. Watch "Calypso" then tell me with a straight face you don't think it's any good. You can't.

I find it bland and uninspired, though it does have its moments, and the acting is top notch.

Give it 20 years and (some) folks on here will be treating PIC and DISC like good sex and hate watching whatever Star Trek show is on HoloTV.

NO WAY! COMMODORE OH WAS A WAY BETTER VILLAIN THAN CAPTAIN HOLO-FLORPUS!!

Dsc season 1 was ok scifi but didn't feel like trek to me. Season 2 was better. Picard mostly felt like trek and most of my negatives are nitpicky things not true negatives.

Disco could be better but is satisfying enough. Short Treks are alright, with a few gems among them. Picard's pretty damn good.

It's been the worst day since yesterday.

Why throw them into the same category? They're entirely different shows. I'm not a big fan of Discovery, but I don't think it's bad enough that I drop the entire show like with Enterprise. Picard, I really like.

Both shows are ok, I am more curious about Picard because I want to know more about the late 24th century. And because I love Stewart.

But I like the relaunch novels better then these shows
