Without giving away any spoilers, Vala has a pretty big role in season 9 and 10.
Don't worry, she becomes a very different character from Aeryn as she develops.
I would hope so. She does join as a regular character in Season 9.

She does.I'm excited that she will become a regular in Season 9 and hopefully I will be able to differentiate Vala from Aeryn.
I am a huge FARSCAPE fan
I finally can say one of my biggest issues is how fucking stupid / naive Sam becomes as the seasons go by. Like old Sam would have never let roboSam on the base, they would have met off Earth. New Sam dates Pete for no reason and let's RoboSam and shit.
Prometheus Unbound (SG-1)
If I wasn't a fan of Farscape and I didn't know who Claudia Black was, I probably would have thought this episode was just ok. I mean this woman is out maneuvering an entire crew that also includes General Hammond might make me go hmmm, but everything that came after that was pretty good. I did however think the hiccup joke wore pretty thin about half way through.
However, I love Farscape, and I love Claudia Black and I thought this episode was wonderful. You run the risk of not being interesting if it's just focused on one of the main characters, but General Hammond being there and the stage presence of Black really makes this episode a whole ton of fun. I loved every scene with Vala and Daniel, especially the fight scene. I will say though it will take me a while to get used to Claudia on SG-1 because if I hadn't known better, I would think it was Daniel and Aeryn Sun on the ship. Black was basically playing Aeryn, maybe in the first couple of seasons. Heck, when she took off the super soldier helmet that scene was basically right out of Farscape's first episode. I'm excited that she will become a regular in Season 9 and hopefully I will be able to differentiate Vala from Aeryn. Until then, Officer Aeryn Sun was on SG-1, and I had so much fun watching that.![]()
It's Good To Be King (SG-1)
That felt like a Season 3 or 5 episode. It was awesome to see Jack off world again, and we got a Puddle Jumper on SG-1. That was pretty cool. This one was an Ancient Time Ship. We also got an update on Ba'al vs. the rest of the System Lords and it sounds like the System Lords may Lose. Also, this one another System Lord, Ares bit the dust. We also got to see Harry Maybourne one more time. I'm a little sad this was his (I'm assuming) last appearance. It's for the best but he was a fun character.
Also you are getting pretty close to "Reckoning Part 1 & 2". The last 5 eps of season 8 are an epic roller coaster ride.
Based on what you said and what @bigdaddy said last night, I'm giving some thought of just finishing off SG-1 Season 8 once I get to Reckoning. I mean you have one episode sandwiched in two two part episodes, and I was told to finish SG-1 Season 8 first. Then I can see the remainder of Atlantis Season 1, start Season 2 to finish the 3 part story, and then start Season 9 of SG-1. That might be easier than navigating these multi part season enders, especially now that I'm close to finishing up each season.
Honestly, that might be your best bet. Not just for spoiler free reasons, but for simplicity's sake. I highly recommend this path.
"THREADS" is sandwiched in between 2 two-parters, but it is such a key episode that it really should be viewed with the two-parters in one shot. And if you have access to the full version, I highly recommend watching that. The shortened version, you'll get the gist and it does flow nicely, but you'll miss a LOT of what makes SG1 so great... the character beats and interactions.
As far as I know, it's only on the dvd. Hell, when the set came out, I had to send the disc in to the makers to get the full, original aired version because the dvd had the short one.

How do you know what DVD set has the short Threads vs long?
