News New season 3 teaser

I think it's time to start expecting or excepting(not sure which or both) is like with sports which I think we won't see anything until 2021 I am thinking the same will be the case with movies and tv shows. Especially when you consider that shows often film in locations in all parts of the world. Movie theaters might be going out of business and people haven't even started talking about if we have a Depression your going to likely see a quick end to the streaming wars. Not counting some of the stuff already made of course and in the case of movies they might just release it online.

Bleh. It seems like all they have to do is the soundtrack. I'm sure the soundtrack would be awesome and it would fit the tone of S3 like a glove. But if that's the only thing that would hold S3 up, and it looks like this thing will stretch on and on until who-knows-when, I guess I'm in the camp that would prefer they just recycle music from the first two seasons.

They might just have to do it digitally this season. Getting an entire orchestra together for recording sessions is way too big of a risk right now.

Or they could do something I have always though would be cool is to score a Trek show with popular pop music. It doesn't have to make sense that kind of music isn't listened to anymore because movies and shows have done that before. Let's say the end of the first episode ends in a sad rap around all the characters. Well just have the Zager and Evans, In the Year 2525 play as one example. Mix in mainstream stuff like that with surreal futuristic sounding stuff made from weird sounds the human ear isn't use to.

Seriously, I don't think it would hurt my viewing experience in the slightest if they had to synthetize the soundtrack for this season.
Same. There is nothing saying they couldn't go back later and redo the OST for the season as well. This is a situation where everyone would fully understand. It would also allow them to re-promote the season again.

Complaints about Burnham.
Complaints about Discovery.
Counter-arguments to the above.
Trek fans going to Trek fan.

Actually, I'm surprised its only 10 pages.

Only 10! Wait until it reaches 100! We still haven't even figured out if Roddenberry would have approved of her holding the flag that way.

I suspect if Burnham was a white male, and the same criticisms were being levelled at him, he wouldn't have anywhere near as many defenders. Just a theory.

People accuse SMG's acting being annoying or forced because... it is.

This is a much more apt description. SMG turning her head and looking off camera is enough for some people to make accusations of 'overacting'

The term overacting actually isn't even accurate to her acting problems. She is actually underacting. She is always stone-faced and shows little emotion and when she does she doesn't really have the acting range to really make you feel their is someone more complex underneath it all. I feel she has run into the same problem guest stars have being doing for decades when playing Vulcans is nobody except a handful have been able to every truly pull it off. She is not one of them and it's just another reason they really messed up with backstory and given her a Vulcan personal. I think people want passion and leads who can ever go a little broad and even overate in a fun way like Kirk. I think this has always been something that Trek fans love. People love the bigger than life characters. Maybe a better term is stage acting. Fans tend to love it.

Nope. If Burnham was a white male character who showed emotion people like yourself would be calling him a cuck or a soyboy. There would be tons of people defending and celebrating a character like that.

I think you miss the point of the way Martin-Green plays Burnham. Burnham doesn't know how to handle emotions and I think that gets conveyed fully well in Martin-Greens performance. The reason people like yourself miss it is precisely because of the hammy, over the top stage acting that was prevalent in 90's trek. Wanting a character who was taught to suppress her emotions to suddenly be larger than life is idiotic. Learn to appreciate subtlety.
