Data's real father will be retconned as Spot. Soong was only his assistant. Pass it on...

What if at the end of the season Picard dies and then Charles Xavier wakes up confused at the strange dream he had?

Magneto would have made short work of Data easily. But these new organic synths that seemingly don't have metal in them, he would have to struggle.

If Xavier wakes from a Picard dream, that just means he was watching too much Star Trek. Star Trek has been shown to exist as a fictional show within the X-Men comics universe, and it's probably safe to say that X-Men comics existed in the past (if not the present) of the Trek universe, as the Trek universe is supposed to be "our" future barring differences like no Eugenics Wars and presumably no Star Trek tv show.

CBS will carefully write around the copyright. Patrick Stewart will sit in a wheelchair, and someone addresses him as, "Professor, what's wrong?". Patrick will say, "I had the strangest dream."

However, as the words Xavier and X-Men are not actually spoken, Disney won't be able to successfully file a lawsuit.

In the opening episode the writers wanted us to know (a) that Dahj was Data's daughter and (b) that no one else had seen the painting. That's fine with me, but now they have to explain how Data could have painted Dahj years before she was even created. If no one saw it, then that might imply time travel, but if not that then what? It's a loose end...

^ IIRC, Dahj and all the synths who look like her were made to resemble the painting, not the other way around.

Nowhere has it ever been said that no one else had ever seen the painting. Picard has it locked away in storage now, but that doesn't mean it has always been kept secret or that nobody else ever got to see it. Maddox, for one, clearly saw it, since he made several synths in its image - and that is very much the sequence of events. We know from TNG that Data kept in touch with Maddox and shared examples of his work with him. No time travel or precognition involved.

Been watching this Picard show since yesterday and liking it just fine. Not as good as Enterprise was but then again none of them are. I did give "E.T. in Arcadia, part 1" a score of 7 which is my highest score yet. It is just sort of starting so we got to give it time I think. Captain Picard has always been a good egg and I like how he is not afraid to be old and fragile. My favorite character is Elnor as he's like a ninja samurai! You never pull your blade unless you are going to use it and can't put it back until it has tasted blood. He would have fit right in on Enterprise and I could see him and T'Pol hooking up. Can't help but think Captain Archer would be able to figure this all out a little bit sooner. Can hardly wait for tomorrow right now.

erm, because the odds of random events happening like that are clearly so remote that it could have only happened by design.

Equally, nowhere has it been said that Maddox had seen it. The writers of ep.1 wanted us to believe no one had seen it...even Maddox. They implied Maddox probably created Dahj, yet spent a lot of time/money on the sequence in the archive trying to make us think no one had. It's a loose thread which the writers tugged in ep.1 and have left dangling...it's bad storytelling....all tease with no money-shot.

Maddox *clearly* saw it? No, we have no *evidence* that Maddox saw it, there is only conjecture. You're extrapolating from information in Trek canon, just as one can do from different info in the canon...there's no evidence (yet) to show which is correct.

I'll grant that using Occam's Razor it's more likely that Maddox saw it, but it's nevertheless just another theory for now.

If Picard dies it’ll be in the series finale. It’s not going to be in this week’s episode.

I just assumed that the Ghulion IV predated Bruce fleeing after the Synth Ban 14 years earlier.

    Seems not.

Regarding how the Romulans knew about Dahj and Soji..
Narissa said in a previous episode that their whole mission, decades long efforts and hard work was ruined by Hugh.
Also, they had intel from Oh, what two known synths looked like.
They had both of them flagged the moment they showed up on surveillance.

The Romulans managed to get a mole into Starfleet Command and leave her there for decades. I'm sure identifying a couple of Synths just a few years earlier - especially with their mole in place at Starfleet Intelligence - is not going to be that difficult once you know what you're looking for.

Et In Arcadia Ego, Part 1
The penultimate episode. Quite interesting. La Sirena, Narek and the Artefact arrive at Coppelius, Soji's homeworld. But first, the intro scene, with La Sirena in the transwarp conduit. It it would be turbulant would be obvious, and the shot of Jurati cowering under the table was done rather well. Arriving at Coppelius, La Sirena is attacked by Narek. This battle was done well, including Narek projecting a false image of his ship to gain advantage over La Sirena. Then giant orchids envelop the two ships and the Artefact.
Thus they all crash on the planet's surface near the Synth settlement. But something is up with Picard. Jurati scans him and finds out about his neurological condition, which may be getting worse. The scene where he talks to the crew about his condition and that they shouldn't treat him like a dying man was very well written (and acted). They decide to go the Artefact first, before going to the Synth settlement. There, they find that Elnor, Seven and many XBs had survived the crash. A rather good scene.
The conversation between Picard and Seven was good also. 'Passing the torch' as it were. But Raffi and Rios discover that 218 Romulan warbirds are on the way. (Something about that number? Or 109?) They then go to the Synth settlement, where they discover many Synths. Some who have similar skin tones to Data, including Jana's sister Sutra, and others who look more human. There is also Noonian Soong's son, Altan Inigo Soong. (An unexpected, and interesting development.) Also a Synthetic cat named Spot II.
(A very good addition.) However, not all seems right in this seemingly idyllic community, especially when the vistors reveal that the Romulans are coming to destroy them. They don't have enough of the Orchids for one thing. But something else is up. When Jurati reveals what she knows from the Admonition, Sutra, having studied Vulcan culture, offers to mind meld with her. (Jurati's fear and anxiety was expressed rather well here.) Then Sutra tells what the Admonition means. That an extragalatic federation of Synths will save them from the Organics.
Making matters worse, Narek is captured and Picard tries to dissuade Sutra from her plan. That his speech fails, is understandable, given that the Synths (and Soong) are paranoid. (And Sutra seemingly has framed Narek for murdering one of the other Synths...) An episode with a feel more like TNG, it is still a good set up for what comes next. 8.8/10.

Huh, seeing the name "Altan Inigo," sounds kinda like "Alter Ego."

"Homicidal fungus"? Is that a Discovery reference?

    I'm guessing it isn't

As to Altan Soong, when I first heard the name (and before I saw the spelling), I immediately thought of Good Eats.
