Seven of Nine is back in ST: Picard

Alright, according to Bleeding Cool, Star Trek: Picard happens 19 years after Voyager's events. Seven of Nine and Seven is a member of a sort of a group of freedom fighters called the Fenris Rangers who are trying to keep some semblance of order in the mess that is the galaxy. And she holds Picard,, a former Starfleet Captain, partially responsible for the mess Starfleet has done since.

I note that in all articles already read, there is not no mention of C/7'romance. :whistle:So, We will have to wait for the episode where Seven appears to know more IF writers ever decided to mention the state of her sentimental life.

I'm very curious the status of the Voyager's Doctor in Picard. In "Maps and Legends" we see
An army of Soong-type androids being used as labourers at the Utopia Planitia Shipyards.
But Voyager got there first with the EMH Mark 1's being dilithium miners in "Author, Author".
With the uprising (or were they hacked and remote-controlled like Data in several TNG episodes?), the attack on Mars and resulting ban on synthetic lifeforms, what's become of them? Suddenly those negotiations with Robert Picardo for season 2 are much more interesting than just seeing another old face.

Note that
Index was a hologram without sentience, so holograms still exist.

In TNG onwards we saw plenty of holographic characters acting independently, but maybe the EMH mark 1 was uniquie. Maybe the mining EMHs all suffered cascade failures like the Doctor once they tried to go beyond their programming, but unlike the doctor they weren't fixed, and instead were simply reset to factory conditions. Maybe the trip through the Caretaker's magic machine did something to the Doctor's program.

The Doctor could well be unique in the 24th century.

In the Endgame future, Voyager arrived back in 2404 (after the Romulan supernova seen in Star Trek '09). By 2414, Sentient holograms were common (Paris mistook Lana for a hologram), and were able to marry.

Once again Janeway's actions caused misery and pain to the entire quadrant due to her selfishness. With the synth revolvt, the attack on Mars, and artificial lifeforms being taboo, there's no way that there would be a proliferation of artificial holograms in this manner. Something Janeway + Voyager's crew did on her return is directly responsible for the deaths of hundreds of millions, and that's assuming that the supernova even happened in the Endgame timeline, all because she was upset that Chuckles died.

LOL, I feel you. TNG is a bit of a slog compared to some of the other series (I agree on liking the 3 series you mentioned best). I think if you focus on the Borg-centric stuff in TNG you should have adequate background in the Picard prelim views without causing yourself to suffer unduly. I've only seen s1-3 of TNG plus the Borg eps, so we'll be in good company if we both get lost in Picard.

You have great taste, Cosmic Mouse! ;)

So...I got all the way up to TNG S3E14 before I had to put my binge watching on hold so that I could actually focus on studying for the NCLEX (I passed and I am officially a nurse now! Yay!). However, because I have a wee bit of an obsessive personality, I basically threw all the binge watching I have done so far out the window and decided to start all over because just watching TNG wasn't good enough for me. I decided I needed to watch everything in Prime Timeline chronological order before I can watch Star Trek: Picard and fully appreciate it (which is probably not true based on everyone's lovely suggestions but you know...obsessive). So far I have finished Star Trek Enterprise and I am almost done with Discovery then it will be on to TOS.

Soon Picard, I will be with you soon! Also, shout out to all you wonderful people using spoiler tags. I was almost too afraid to come back into this thread for fear of spoilers. XD

Well S01E03 showed us
that EMH's are still a thing in 2399 (although not played by Robert Picardo), so perhaps Voyager's Doctor has been left alone?

I eagerly waiting for episode 5. We got seconds of 7 but looks like there will be plenty for her to do!

It's amazing to me that with all the criticism Jeri got for the role at the time of Voyager (Not to mention the Barbie of Borg and stuff like that), how she is being embraced now by the fandom really does warm my heart. That's a testament to the character and how Jeri portrayed her. Maybe Voyager did become the 7 of 9 show in the end, but upon various rewatches and just with the passage of time, I do think 7 of 9 has become one of the most iconic characters in the franchise. I only wish they hadn't revealed it in the opening credits, but when she beamed aboard, it brought a huge smile to my face.

I think the bashing was more about what the producers wanted her to be versus what she actually was. Kate Mulgrew has apologized for her behavior toward Jeri Ryan, stating she felt like she, Mulgrew, was getting upstaged by T&A and lashed out at Ryan instead of Bermaga because she was the easier target. Likewise, people wanted to dismiss Seven for the same reasons because let's face it, she probably wouldn't have been brought on if Braga hadn't been dating her at the time. But she owned the role despite this blatant favoritism and gave the cast a much needed rounded character who had an arc and clear growth and as more of the circle jerk BS falls to the wayside, people are seeing that, too.

Did anyone watch ST: Picard yesterday with the re-introduction of 7 of 9? If yes, how was the episode?
The episode was good, but Seven was in it for about 8 seconds at the end. It's episode 5 that'll properly feature her.

In fact, here is her return:
