Spoilers The Romulans and the Vulcans (spoilers for Ep2 onward).

We discover these are the only Romulans ever assimilated.
Well, there has been at least one more that has been mentioned here.
Also I guess the writers forgot about Orum.

They haven't necessarily forgotten him. They might have if they're going the way I think they are, but Hugh says they are "the only Romulans ever assimilated to our knowledge". Orun was found in the Delta Quadrant, and who knows what they know of Voyager's records. So technically, there's still a chance of not getting a contradiction there.

That’s probably why it’s correct. Can you imagine the shitstorm if it turned out Vulcans were androids all along? Talk about killing a franchise.
I mean, they gave Spock a sibling who never existed before, so that is the track record.

Data was obviously an android from the start. They’ll have to explain how Spock was half human-half synth.
I hope this all isn’t true. I really do. It would taint the preceding fifty year of Vulcans in Trek and create SO many problems.
Hopefully it’s the Romulans created the Borg and it went wrong.
Its fucking laughable to think that this would taint Star Trek. This is the same anti-synthetic bias that is showcased in Picard. What difference would it make if Vulcans are descended from a created race? They are born, they live, and they die like everyone else. How do their ancestors invalidate the personal stories of the Vulcans we've followed?

The idea that if the Vulcans or Romulans were originally bio-androids destroys Star Trek for you, you are beyond help.

The problem with the idea is that it is immensely stupid.

Because they are fake.

That's how Trek works: regardless of what exactly is being written or produced, Vulcans are dysfunctional, Klingons look different, and Starfleet exists to hinder our heroes. NewTrek seems to have gotten much of that down pat, even if said writing and production values cause concern.

Would go a ways to explain all their magical powers.

PS. If I had a nickel for every time I read someone claiming 'Star Trek is dead' the last couple years I'd be doing pretty well. And yet, we are looking at 3 concurrent series in production for the first time in history. If Picard reveals an interesting secret about Vulcan's that broadens the series in new directions, I'm perfectly find with that.

How is this anything new with this Franchise?

Exactly. That's just how it works, and what makes it worth watching. Spock probably has three daughters with his six husbands, and the Klingon Time Organ will be revealed when they next modify their butts to let it protrude, but the Prime Directive will stop our heroes from interfering until High Commissioner Gray listens to the hero speech and sees the light of reason. Plus there's a starship battle. And some fisticuffs.

Deep down, everybody in Trek is engineered. The Ancients of "The Chase" took it to heart to create a galaxy teeming with life that is cross-compatible and has fun interbreeding without requiring constant maintenance and support from the Creators. No doubt the idea would have occurred to other species, too, including those that realized they themselves were machines made by the Ancients, and those that did not, or refused to believe.

Attitudes are allowed to vary. Humans are afraid of engineering, but that's just juvenile angst, and they're now living through the puberty of building all-new life themselves. Vulcanoids may have gone mad for not coping well with said puberty. Klingons may have gone mad in the other direction, engaging in self-engineering orgies and all. But this Ascension thing that awaits several species in Trek, and perhaps all, probably is the final step to true adulthood, after which the species lose their species nature and look back at the angsty teens with gentle bemusement, not bothering to interfere with the unnatural order of things...

Well she hid her Tal Shiar spy-device untill now. Who knows what else she is hiding.
A spy-device that, per Picard, is illegal in Federation space. She's likely to have a few of those keepsakes that she keeps on a strict need-to-know basis.

It isn't at all.
Oh yes it is!
How else to explain scientifically what Vulcans are capable of?
How would being synths explain anything? They would be synths in name only, completely indistinguishable from normally evolved biological beings and no one over the centuries would have ever noticed that this is not the case.
