Romijn mentioned in a recent Interview unrelated to Star Trek, that she's working on Star Trek "here and there"

What else are you up to?
My other passion is animal rescue and I host a show on Hallmark Channel, The American Rescue Dog Show, which is so fulfilling and so cute. It celebrates rescue dogs and the categories are things like Best in Wiggle Butt, Best in Snoring, Best in Underbite, Best in Belly Rubs, Best in Couch Potato. The ones that really get you are Best in Special Needs or Best in Senior. There’s not a dry eye in the house. It’s so cute. Jennie Garth is one of the hosts. It airs in mid-February. I’ve also been working on Star Trek here and there, but I can’t really talk about that.

I too like the name ST: 1701. Hopefully they use a version of the theme heard at the end of the Discovery season 2 finale, and have the end credits be like they were in TOS. That would be a cool touch.

It's the "I can't really talk about that" part that makes this so interesting to me. If she hadn't added that I'd have taken this to mean the Short Trek stuff she was in, but "I can't really talk about that" practically screams "I'm going to be in a new Pike series but I signed an NDA".

I hope it doesn't end up as the mix of milquetoastiness and predictability, that some fans laud as apparently strongest and winning traits of this concept. I'd have no issues with it being made up of standalone episodes, as long as it can prevent being just a rehash of well known (and old fashioned) narrative styles and ideas. Experimentation and variation would be even easier through non serial storytelling.

Also, am I the only one who in "Q&A" felt like with each shot of Eathan Peck they were screaming "Look at him! Look at him!!! It's fucking Spock!!! Look at him!!!"? Was a bit offputting. And I liked him in DSC S2.

Also also, while I'm at it, I'd prefer if they recast Number One. Am I weird?

So, I don't know where else to post this, so I'm choosoing this thread.

I am currently in an "argument" on facebook with someone concerning Ansen Mount.

They claim that "CBS fired Anson months ago for getting into it with somebody on set."

I called that a bold faced lie, and was then told that:

1) It came out of his mouth.

and that

2) "the fact he was removed from Discovery was already in the news back in March 2019. The official line from CBS/Klutzman was he was to leave in order to "keep canon" with what happened in TOS. A joke considering he would not know canon if it fell on him. But there have been several reports of late including from Anson himself, he had creative difference with Klutzman and which led to his leaving the show "earlier then expected"..

Which is not at all what the initial comment claimed, but still, this is all news to me - can anyone here give any background info on these unfounded rumors?

Why would there be any background info on unfounded rumors? There are a lot of people out there making crap up because they hate the new shows or just for the lulz. If it sounds stupid, it probably is.

They appear to be referencing this March 18th Deadline article which talks about the fact that Mount and Romijn were not going to be part of Discovery season 3. There is a brief mention of a minor physical incident between Mount and a director on an episode:

Meanwhile, with production on Season 2 of Discovery now wrapped in Toronto, Mount was involved in an on-set physical altercation in August last year with a director while filming an episode.

The incident reportedly stemmed from a discussion of a scene, and Mount gesticulating and pointing, which was the action of the scene in question. In acting out that scene before the cameras were turned on, the actor’s hands made physical contact with the director.

Quickly after the incident occurred, it was reported by the production to CBS HR, which reviewed the matter. The department spoke to all parties involved, including Mount and the director, to determine what happened. Based on those discussions and the inquiry, the incident did not result in any disciplinary action against the actor.

Even before HR got involved, Mount apologized to the director and work on the episode continued. The incident is said to have zero to do with Mount leaving Discovery; one source close to the production told Deadline that “we would love to find a way to work with Anson again.”

Sounds like there was a required HR investigation because of the incidental physical contact but the issue was closed and Mount was certainly not fired (especially considering they went on to film the Short Treks with him well after the incident took place in August of '18).

Uh...this sounds to me like they did a rehersal? And during that he accidentaly touched the director? Why is this even an issue that needs to be reported to HR? Is this one of those overly sensitive legal american things?

This is why I stay out of Facebook groups and YouTube comments. Idiots and trolls everywhere.

I remember when Star Trek Beyond was cancelled and would never see the light of day; I remember when JJ Abrams was going to secret Hollywood court for embezzling money from Star Trek Into Darkness which really only cost $66 million to make; I remember when CBS All-Access was launching with Enterprise Season 5 (someone "saw concept art"... which was a Ships of the Line calendar picture); Discovery was going to be filmed on Axanar sets (:guffaw:); Discovery was cancelled and Alex Kurtzman fired and so on...

After those ex producers were harrassing and belittling the writers room, there was probably a policy in place that Any incident, no matter how small, was to be reported and looked in to.. An incident happened, they found it wasn't anyting, and they moved on.
Anson just doens't like being away from his family for a long time, so that is probably the sticking point. But if they do the Mini series/movie of the quarter version, that wouldn't be a problem.. so.. there ya go.
