I just finished re-watching "Author, Author" (VOY). I wonder how many synths have read Photons Be Free? And how many of them might've been influenced by the story? Or, if they were hacked, if whoever/whatever hacked them was influenced by it?

s31 sending a deathsquad after the doctor?

I've recently completed the second episode.

I still can't get over the irony that at this point, Picard wants nothing more than to be Jim Kirk and live out the third TOS movie. He already had his "Wrath of Khan" moment in Nemesis and lost his dear old best friend, who just may still be alive out there somewhere, or at least need to be put to rest properly. He desperately wants to be demoted back to Captain and get back out there for this crazy mission, involving himself deep in galactic politics and conspiracy super weapons. StarFleet doesn't want to help him? Well, to hell with it, he's going to get a ship and go anyways. The only thing missing is actually stealing the Enterprise to do it....

Thanks for the feedback! I guess we'll have to leave it open then. I only realized that a moon was seen before the camera panned to the right to show the ships and Mars only after having watched the episode at least five or six times. I guess I was always too distracted by the Starfleet ships to realize that a Martian moon was shown at the beginning... ;-)

Anybody knows what caused these blue bars quickly disappearing from the regular LCARS display at the beginning of this shot?

What I like about what's being presented is that it is far more a question of legacy for Picard than for Kirk.

Kirk was doing it because it was the right thing to do. He had no idea Spock was even alive until he reached Genesis. For Picard, this seems to be about trying to right past mistakes that tarnish his legacy.

I actually connect with Kirk more where this particular point is concerned.

I do too. But, Picards makes sense from a storytelling and character perspective.

Plus Starfleet was a very different animal in Kirks era, would they have even considered helping the Romulans back then, hard to say.

Then again the Romulans would probably never have asked anyway, plus who knows what the Klingons would have done in response.

There are some problems with Starfleet's Romulan rescue effort that I won't go into here, because it is from the book. But, a few years after Star Trek III, the Federation and Starfleet would undertake the mission to help rescue Kronos.

Yeah I was going to go onto that but felt it was unnecessary as the Federation and the Klingons had diplomatic relations at the time, whereas the Romulans would not really be seen or encountered officially until TNG, not counting their attacks on the Klingons during the Enterprise C's era of course.

Its possible that the only way Starfleet would know something was up was when the light/energy of the Supernova became visible/detectable outside of Romulan space.

I'm really enjoying PIC so far, but it's so weird how "Maps and Legends" established that Jamie and Cersei Lannister survived the destruction of the Red Keep in "The Bells" and escaped to become agents of the Tal Shiar.

Looks like an overlay for playback software they left on:lol: The box top right has the filename.

Or maybe it's just an LCARS thing that looks superficially similar.

Here's another painting to tackle: It's seen in Dahj's apartment in Greater Boston. I have exhausted all my methods of identifying artwork. Can anybody help?
