Righto, the movie's out tomorrow, so time for a spoilery discussion thread for those who have seen it.

Poll enclosed.

Wait, was I really the first person around here to have seen this movie? Well, then I'll repost this here from the other thread:

Saw it tonight. 8/10 sounds about right. Fun, small-scale, character-driven, cartoony. While I have to say that @kirk55555 was right with his prediction about Cassandra Cain being that character in name only, it worked with this movie (and they didn't tell much of her backstory, so she might be more like the comics' version in eventual sequels). But really, fun.

I saw it last night. I really enjoyed it. Though I doubt I would rush to see it again. Keep in mind I have yet to watch all of Suicide Squad.
Avoided it in theaters. Did not bother finishing my copy from the library a couple years ago. Last year I found the extended cut on Blu Ray at Goodwill for really cheap. Will finally give it a shot again.

Minor Spoilers

Make no mistake this is Harley’s movie. Through out film events she causes introduce the Birds of Prey to each other. At the end Black Canary, Huntress, and Montoya form a team and Harley goes her own way. I was happy that in no way is Harley a member. They set up them having their own movie... in theory. But I am dubious that WB won’t be tempted include her anyways.

Harley’s narration is a big reason this feels like her movie. Which mostly works. I liked the Flashbacks for character backstory. But the main plot in present time is told in random order for no reason. If that was left out it would have improved the film a lot.

Just got back and really enjoyed it. Finally another great DCEU movie after MoS/WW.

I liked all the Birds of Prey but it was definitely Harley's movie and Robbie really did a great job. MacGregor was a really strong villain and Zsazs was actually a stand-out character, too. Loved the action and the humor in general, though I did come away thinking I'd've liked a bit more action in the big finale. Her speech on the pier was great but having it immediately undermined with a gag and then not giving her a chance to earn it back by beating Black Mask herself was I think my main issue with the film. (Also why no action scene for Bruce? :weep:) But overall it was just plain fun - including the flashback structure, imo - and I had a great time.

BOP has only 6.7 on IMDB... Are the MRAs review bombing again?
No doubt. I've seen lots of whiny incel bullshit about the movie elsewhere on the web. These guys absolutely redefine pathetic.

(Due to inclement weather hereabouts, I've switched my tickets to tomorrow. Will return and vote then.)

Apparently it's set for the "worst DC opening since Jonah Hex".

I wonder if the planned Joker/Harley Quinn project is in danger.

Doesn't make any sense... So why did the much worse reviewed, and less hyped production hell suffering Suicide Squad do so well? Apparently it wasn't Harley... was it secretly Will Smith? Or maybe a lot of people watched SS but hated it so much they wouldn't see another movie like it?

Is The Suicide Squad now in danger? Are other Harley vehicle movies in danger? I am guessing the Gotham City Sirens movie has 0 chance of being made now. Probably same for that rumors Harley and Joker movie...

I'm pretty sure most of those were stopped before they started work on this.
I saw the movie this morning, and I absolutely loved it.
Margot Robbie was great as Harley, and I loved her narration, the constant back for forth and jumping around really fit her character. Watching you could tell the Margot Robbie really seems to love playing Harley.
Most of the humor in this really worked.
This really had some awesome action scenes, with the fight in the police station, and the big one at the amusement park being highlights. I think the cast must have had the time of their lives filming the Booby Trap scene.
The rest of the Birds were good too, they didn't get quite as much focus as Harley, but they still all got a few stand out scenes.
Ewan McGregor and Chris Messina as Szasz were both great villains.
Bruce was awesome.
I went with an A rating.

Perhaps that's why. They saw "the first one" and don't care to come back for more.
