How do you know you wouldn’t like the first one in a place where they got a sequel?
Are we positing it would have been a different movie? Maybe an adaptation faithful to the source material, matching its narrative artistry, thematic richness, visual splendor, and moral conviction? One where its screenwriter and director didn’t objectively misunderstand the book they were adapting?
Then that’s fair.

I watched it last night. Boring movie. That's the biggest issue. I don't think the film knows its audience and is writing to a generation of kids that were around 20 years ago. The setting was uninteresting, bunch of planets that look the same. It feels like a cheap movie.
I preferred Sasha Calle's Supergirl but with another writer and director and a bigger vision this movie could have been good.
