Patrick Stewart has seen first 5 episodes, hopes fans won't be disappointed

Right now there are too many new things I don't enjoy at all. Now why should I listen to music I hate and watch movies and series which bores me to death? I don't call that to evolve but to adapt. I have never adapted to anything I don't like. Such things are for cowards and people without real interests who go where the wind blows just to fit into the trendy crowd.

Then don't. No one is making you.

No one is forcing you to watch, listen or read anything.

Then don't watch it, listen to it, participate in it.

As you stated, you already have TOS, TNG, VOY and the like. Why worry one show you won't like?

I might like "Picard" very much!

I actually have great expectations for the series!

Mind you, I often try new series and watch a few episodes. In most cases the recent years, I've quit watching after some episodes. I hope that Picard will be the great exception.

Personally I think it's far more cowardly to stay where you are and never expose yourself to new things. That is not living. And I think it says a lot when someone has to be dismissive of people who do 'adapt'.

You are not entirely correct here.

As I've written before, I do "expose myself" to new things now and then.

I did watch the first five episodes of "Enterprise" but I didn't like it so I quit watching it.

I did watch the first NuTrek movie but didn't like how it turned out so I quit.

I did watch the three first "Discovery" episodes but found the characters and the whole setup horrible so I quit watching it.

I watched the first episodes of "The Orville".Not as good as Star Trek in the 90's but still acceptable with some fun as well so I decided to continue to watch it.

There are several other TV series which I have given a chance first before I've decided not to watch it.

As for music, there are certain types of music which I hated even before they became popular. I rather listen to a three piece band of teenagers playing hard rock in a basement than listen to rap, hiphop or kightweight pop like Justin Bieber, Lady Gagga and Katy Perry.

And I guess that a lot of people around here know that I actually quit watching Voyager after acertain episode in season 6 of that series.

Well, that's me! And if that makes me a difficult person to have around, then I just have to live with it. Better than compromise with my own feelings. At least I can look in the mirror every day and not be ashamed of what I see.

However, no one is happier than me if I find something new that I really like. I did actually like "Backstrom" and "Scorpion" and "The Orville" is quite OK.

And I still got NCIS!

My whole family stopped watching DS9 after the first few episodes back then... but we picked it up again on reruns, and it got so much better

I wasn't that impressed about DS9 either after the first episodes. A decent spin-off worth watching but not so much more, I thought.

Unfortunately, the channel which aired the series dropped it after one season so it took many years before I had the opportunity to watch the whole series and could discover what a great series it is.

I'm not likely to see "Picard" anytime soon because I don't have Amazon Prime and I've no intention of getting it
I have however seen the Trailer being shown on terrestrial TV here in the UK
Picard looks like, a hundred ffs.
He looks way too old for active duty in space, just my opinion.

Yes, the character is in his 90s. But in the 24th century, 90 is the new 60.

And in real life, Sir P is verging on 80. I hope I look as good when I get there.

In the trailer, he explicitly asks the admiral to reinstate him to active duty for one more mission. He clearly doesn't get his wish. That's clearly a central story point for why he goes off on his own.

He already looks 90
We disagree, I get it

Stewart looks his age now (79). But he's in incredibly good shape for his age. For example, as recently as 2017 he reported to the media he did 30 push ups a day as part of his morning routine (and back in 2014 was still doing one-armed push ups). Many of us can't even do one!

This is in contrast to say Shatner - who still looks about 20-25 years younger than his age (88) but no one could ever say since the TOS era was anything resembling fit.
