The Romulan samurai guy looks like young Lord Elrond from LOTR.

I guess the theory that the Elves are second cousins twice removed of the Vulcans and Romulans are confirmed :guffaw:.:hugegrin:

Honestly, that whole area has so much Picard promotional material, it's crazy. I'm not sure I've ever seen anything like it, as a Trek fan. Walking through it all is nuts, especially when the trailer starts playing on the screens next to the escalators, etc.

General question. If you look at the SDCC trailer, what is it we are seeing at the 0:30 mark? It's in a lot of the trailers, but I just can't make it out. A building? A column of colored smoke? Anyone figure it out?

You may now safely brag about Trek, without people leaving their seats.

It has an Event Feel. I'd put it up there with the 2009 Film and, appropriately enough, "All Good Things".

Not that the other series premieres didn't feel like events, but this one feels like it's more so than usual. Probably because it's a premiere and a reunion at the same time. And the visuals in Picard look better than anything in the TNG Movies complete with what sounds like it'll be a 10-hour epic tale. So it's also making up for a bunch of so-so films and living up to the image of Peak TV. This has that feel. It's one of those things where I know it when I see it... and I see it.

I also think CBS is well aware of who its audience is. Nerd is in. Sci-fi is in. That wasn't the case in the 80s and 90s, when TNG, DS9, and VOY premiered, at least not to the extent it is today. The nostalgia factor also separates PIC from DSC. So much of this is targeted at the 30- and 40-somethings who grew up watching TNG. What a great time to be alive.

nice little featurette (probably region locked sorry) with more clips and a clearer idea of what i suspect is the first episode than i've seen so far:

you can also hear the picard variation on the TNG theme at the end.

Actually, that's the Original "Starship Enterprise" theme from The Motion Picture.
(TNG took it and sped it up)

I don't know why, but that line, "Sometimes I worry you have forgotten what you did, who you are. We HAVE NOT" really gets me.

Patrick Stewart is on the Graham Norton show this evening. Apparently they built the entire ship interior on a sound stage (not just the odd corridor and room). So obviously not a huge ship I guess!

As excited as I am about the show, Discovery still is tempering it to a degree.

The way the first teaser made her appear and say that line was very sinister. This actually shows that there's a genuine care for Picard and that they will never forget what he did for them and the Romulan people. Also, Orla Brady looks good as a Romulan!

The clip from the Graham Norton Show is posted here. The clip featuring Picard and Data is screened at 11:10:

As I had expected, the Picard/Data scene is apparently the episode's very first scene, taken from Picard's dream sequence.

Pretty sure its just wooden beams from Picard's home with some vines wrapped around it and the night sky in the background.
