Opening Credits?

You know it would be kind of funny if they just used the TNG theme as it was on the show even though it doesn't fit the tone of the new show at all. Even same graphic of the Enterprise D just you replace the new cast with the old cast in blue letters in the credits.

Jason

Also I guess I should note someon on YouTube will no doubt do that at some point.

Jerry Goldsmith's TMP theme is iconic, easily recognizable and instantly associated with Star Trek, just like Alexander Courage's theme and fanfare.

Seeing how Kurtzman and Co. keep insisting that Picard isn't a sequel to TNG, then an original theme is appropriate.

It'd be nice if someone like Ramin Djawadi, Trevor Morris or Clinton Shorter was given an opportunity to score Star Trek at some point. Til then were we're stuck with James Russo's glorified elevator music, but I guess Trek could do worse.

How about that youtube song "Make it so" to the tune of Let it Snow?

Something new. Anything. Hell, hire Daft Punk to do one. Just quit hanging off Goldsmith's musical toenail clippings.

this little BTS clip has what i assume is a snippet of the main theme at the very end, or at least russo's variation on the TNG theme for picard:

Hmm, I hadn't thought much about it. I just hope it is an orchestral theme. Visually, I think it may be something that recounts Picard's life and career.

and maybe put a song over it about how it’s taken such a long time to get from there to here.

Russo will likely incorporate a portion of the TNG motif towards the end as he did with the Courage fanfare at the end of the Discovery opening theme.

i believe one of the folks who went to one of the premiere screenings said as much.

I'm with y'all. I like Daft Punk as well, they'd be fantastic for this! Although... I'd also love Rammstein's take. :D

I think the music that is played as the camera approaches the vineyard building is the main theme.

Take your pick:

Those are well done. Granted, I want to blow chunks, but those were good.

Daft Punk's Tron Legacy score is a masterpiece, so I'd be pretty excited to hear their take on Star Trek.

Here they are recording the Picard theme... and until they spoke, they did not know they were French!

Here it is. I kinda like it, its simple, uncomplicated, sweet and nostalgic. It reminds my of the resican flute theme. I´m not a music theorist...but the main motive actually sounds a bit inspired by that...

The intro is kinda interesting, but also underwhelming. Parts are like James Bond intros, but the music seems generic with no clear direction or theme tune.
