Opening Credits?

It’s probably safe to assume we are going to get something more artistic, like Discovery, than the typical hero ship flyby of previous Treks. So, with that in mind, what are your theories for the opening credits?

I’m leaning into two ideas:

1) Some kind of visual tour through his winery, etc., given how heavy it’s featured in the marketing.

2) Personal preference: artistic drawing/painting montage, showing Picard’s entire life and career up until this new show, with some images we are familiar with from previous adventures, and some that fill gaps post-NEM.

For music, I just hope we don’t get the awkward Trek but on the end, like they did with Discovery.

When I saw the title of this thread I immediately thought of some type of painting montage, considering the prevalence of painting in the trailer. Personally i think we will get a montage of renderings of different locations from the first season, Picards vinyard, starfleet command, the Borg cube and maybe some romulan outpost or something and maybe ending with something like picards starfleet combadge transitioning to the La Sirena combadge.

Or maybe they will do some serious subversion and have a magnum p.i style opening credits with action picard doing things like fighting the borg queen, throwing his saddle at tim russ from starship mine. walking around in his speedo from captain's holiday and doing jumps and skids in the starfleet dune buggy from nemesis.

I don't know about the music or visuals, but based on the latest Short Trek we know the following will be listed in the opening credits:
Created by Akiva Goldsman & Michael Chabon & Kristen Beyer & Alex Kurtzman
based upon "Star Trek: The Next Generation" created by Gene Roddenberry

I expect Jeff Russo to be the composer.

Russo tweeted the first sheet of the theme... could be similar to the melody at the end of the first teaser.

I guess the animated previews showing each character in choppy motion with lots of distortions might be from the intro.

Maybe a visual tour of Picard from childhood to where he currently is in his life. That means the Enterprise-D showing up in it in some fashion. Either way I do think we will see the Enterprise-D in the credits somehow. Or it could start off all happy sort of representing the Utopia of the Federation but then it slowly turns darker and more sinister. Maybe you have more bright colors at first but then it's all black and grey towards the end. Also maybe a shot of a grey Romulan heart.

Hmm, I hadn't thought much about it. I just hope it is an orchestral theme. Visually, I think it may be something that recounts Picard's life and career.

That's already been confirmed. Hopefully, the Picard theme will be a little less boring than the Disco theme.

As for the visuals, I expect a similar type of animation as in Disco, but perhaps a little different color pallete (and hopefully a fancier set of fonts).

I'm a fan of the Discovery theme, got it stuck in my head as I type this, in fact. I genuinely hate the TOS tag on the end of it, though - the ONLY thing I dislike about Discovery :D

I wonder if they’ll release the opening credits a few days early like they did with season 1 of DSC.

Music came first, didn't it? Then credits second, was it? I'd expect they'll likely try a similar marketing campaign for Picard, absolutely.

Nah they released the opening credits without text before season 1 aired.

Yeah, sorry, wasn't disputing that. I was just adding that I think they released a video of Jeff Russo discussing and composing the music, before they pumped out the credits video, etc.

I think there was a clip with him conducting the orchestra that revealed a bit of the theme before the full intro was released.

I hope it calls back to the inner light melody...

The theme I imagine will have at least a callback in some form or fashion to TNG, whether that’s the TMP theme or the Inner Light flute solo, I don’t know. But like with Disco recalling TOS’ theme, it will be brief.

I have no idea on visuals, just preferably not a starfield on its own.

You know, I find myself kind of hoping for what BABYLON 5 did for their theme songs... a different one for each season, but still have enough elements of the previous ones to be easily recognizable.

I always loved how they did that, partly because it is such a unique thing for a series.
