List Only! Last Star Trek Episode You Watched

Deadlock - Double the Janeway, double the Fun. I love this episode a lot. It's not the best in season 2, but it's in the top 5.

Innocence - This episode would have been so much easier if the Drayens revealed everything earlier. I know it's TV drama, but come on, reveal the fact that the children are actually the end of life earlier and things would have gone much easier. It's better than unnecessary conflict. The only good thing about this episode was Tuvok being a father figure.

The Thaw - I put this in the same category as Masks. It's so weird but so good. Love the Clown and how Janeway conquers him.

Tuvix - Couldn't they have just cloned Tuvix and did the procedure on the clone? I think Orphan Black might have dated this episode, but then I think Cloning was more taboo in 1996 than it might be in 2015. Good episode though.

"Devil's Due": This feels more like a TOS episode than a TNG one.

"Clues": I bet it was like Hercules twelve labors to fix all those glitches after one more 24-hour gap to explain away!!!

"First Contact": Imagine if she had babies... that would be one hell of a "first contact".:D

"Galaxy's Child": Geordi came this close to a stalking suit.:D

...

"The Drumhead": Well-intentioned though heavy-handed morality tale.

Resolutions - The episode where Janeway and Chakotay almost happened. The stuff on the planet was nice, but I was more interested in what was happening with Tuvok, and logic and emotions of the crew colliding. Also, it was nice to see Pel again. Average episode overall.

Basics - The end of the Kazon arc and the end of Seska and Lon Sudor. It was a pretty good conclusion.

Flashback - I know how popular Trials and Tribble-ations is in terms of tribute episodes, but I love Flashback. I love seeing TUC entirely from the Excelsior's point of view and even though I hate the meme with a passion, I couldn't help but think the thing with Janeway and Kim talking about Starfleet being a different time was Voyager's version of "OK Boomer". I kind of giggled at the thought.

The Chute - Probably the best Paris/Kim episode of the series. Really cemented their friendship.

I was about to say I, Borg from last night, but just remembered I watched two Discovery episodes, too. So last one for me was The Red Angel.

"Darmok": A lot of fun as long as you don't think about it too much.

"Ensign Ro": All that fuss about putting the family name first! We do that in France, at least on formal occasions, maybe we're Bajoran!:D

"Silicon Avatar": It appears that the villain of this story is not the giant snowflake that destroys ecosystems after ecosystems, it's an old lady with good intentions. Episodes like this are where StarTrek and sanity go at warp speed in opposite directions!!!

"Disaster": What!!! The O'Briens didn't know the sex of the baby before it was born!!! Shocking!

TNG - "Lonely Among Us"

It's got a TOS-like (or Phase II-like?) feel, even though it wasn't an old script dusted off and reused? Data looks over Crusher's shoulder and then gossips about it yet Picard remains nonplussed, Geordi and Worf whine about having to learn new things as if there's a problem with that, Argyle is mentioned but not seen which is almost sad because Engineer Singh has an actual personality and does actual things and guess who unfortunately gets to get fried :( (Hint: Not Argyle, who in his first story does nothing then apologizes for doing nothing and with as much banality as possible... Argyle as a character was simply not developed whatsoever in the script, but I digress.) The scene suggesting the conflict of "'We're better because we make synthetic meat from our transporters' versus 'we're better because we're obligate carnivores and synthetic meat is barbaric and phony and you're full of hubris'" could have been polished a lot more-- but clunky/undeveloped or not (I'll assume the replicators can create amino acids and nutrients despite not replicating taste, as told in a handful of TNG/DS9 episodes but contradicted in others, but even O'Brien mentions her mom's belief of nutrient value and Eddington hyped up real food over replicators as well) it still raises enough of an interesting idea that the franchise always kept stumbling over too inconsistently in retrospect for its own good... the Selay and Anticans are rather well-realized given season one and there is much fun to be had with them... Picard being taken over by the nebula energy fritter and how he acts is a genuine hoot in all honesty... ditto for when and why he's deposited into the nebula as energy - which is rather innovative and clever, as well as being a nice hook for letting the transporter save the day in a new way for the first time. Never mind this is the only time when "having to go out to P" isn't reduced to joke fodder in the way early TNG sometimes strayed into but "The Orville" definitely would have and still might for its upcoming season. I've a true soft spot for this episode, especially as it outdoes "The Naked Now" in letting characters act differently compared to their true selves. But it's still so rough around the edges at times that I have to cringe.

7.25/10

I always thought this was a rather strong early outing. The thing I liked about early-TNG was that it felt like a bridge between what comes later and TOS.

The Swarm - Decent episode. Another in the long line of Kes speaking for the Doctor. The A Plot with the Swarm was not all that interesting.

DS9- Shattered Mirror. It was nice to see Jennifer Sisko again, her last appearance in the series.
