I didn't really notice, nor did I care. I'm confident the actual series will give us better, more "appropriate" ships. This was basically a student film in comparison.
This. I think we need to keep our expectations in check when it comes to Short Treks. I imagine they dropped quite a bit of money on the two animated shorts.
Do They really though? God only knows what happened to all the CGI assets from Berman Trek's final years. I really doubt that in the last year of ENTERPRISE's production anybody thought to hang on to those CGI files.
It was well-produced and interesting. Short Treks are EXPERIMENTAL. I love the new formats and ways of telling the stories. It's great. The best time to be a fan since.. 1993? A note to CBS: With 3 original seasons of Trek content this year, please, take the endless criticism of Data's appearance and the ships in dry dock as a compliment. Thanks.
I actually really LOVED this one. It was short, simple, poignant...and that was all a strength. It was elegant as such. "We Could Be Heroes" is one of my favorite songs of all time. And this brought back the emotions of that fateful day in September 2001. Best short since Calypso. Fantastic.
I think it might be related to the Magoo class, which notoriously have horrible sensors. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr._Magoo
Actually, the tugs are an off-shoot, one of which is called the USS ZIMMERMAN... Here's its underbelly...
The name and Registry were created by Eaglemoss, with approval from CBS, as the original model didn't have a name.
The Magee is the flying saucer, not the tow ship. Some models still exist, Doug Drexler still has a lot, and the TrekYards guys have managed to get some from some of the original 3D artists.
In actuality, I believe that the Tugs are more of an offshoot of the USS CLARKE... (which is a member of the Malachowski-class of starships) Rather than the Magee class.
