We've seen 3 different makeup designs for Ktarians: Etana Jol from TNG The Game, a Borg drone in a Hansons flashback on VOY (the one where Janeway, Tuvok, and Torres are assimilated), and Naomi.

You gotta binge watch all of TNG before Picard airs. I’m watching all of it with my SO, and it’s even better than I remember it.

Not gonna read any posts here because of spoilers.
But any word on where this might show up for international viewers?
    Netflix? Amazon Prime? And when?

With the "rogue synth" reveal, I'm thinking that it's B4 in the drawer, and somebody did to him what Maddox wanted to do to Data in "The Measure of a Man". They went on to create a race of androids that were perhaps designed with more limited capabilities than Data to side-step the sentience issue and facilitate treating them as property. But they developed awareness and rebelled. I'd like to think that it wasn't the Romulans hacking them, because the new race fighting for its independence would be far more interesting, particularly for the place that it would put Picard in.

And B4's memories...and via them, Data's memories...are now in Dahj.

I've been seriously considering making a jar for this overhyped phrase.

Do we know this? Have we seen this? Or is this just an unfounded assumption? From all that we've actually seen, people in the 23rd and 24th centuries still have jobs/careers.

It took a while, but '80s music finally came back to bite us in the ass.

I’d respond to your question, but you won’t read it

(The answer is no word yet - theoretically you can vpn to the states and sign up to cbs access with an amazon fire using a uk credit card and get access that way)

    Just to reiterate...
My complaint isn't that They used DISCOVERY ships in the short.
I'm complaining that They ONLY used DISCOVERY ships in the short.

This grumpy old Trekker wonders why the Hell They couldn't have included a couple of familiar TOS or TNG starships in the background even.

That's the kind of 'bone' I wish They had thrown our way.

And I understand that many don't care, but I happen to be one of those kind of Trek fans that's really into the starships.
    :sigh:

So all those shots of the kite ships attacking, are from Picard, all of them were shown in the trailers for the show.

But they’re not the final versions of the scenes, as the ships were missing the Starfleet Delta seen on them in the most recent trailers.

So I think either, the Discovery production team worked on this short, or it was filmed in Vancouver, or they shipped Spock’s hospital room set to LA. That phone room where the girls were talking to their parents had the same door and padded walls.

If someone can identify the school interior, or the exterior locations we could find out where it was filmed.

    Of course, I read a direct quote/reply.

thanks for the answer. Not an option for me then, yet.
Guess I cannot enjoy it with you guys then.
Hopefully it gets picked up by someone eventually then.

I checked the cast on IMDB, and most of them are Toronto-based. So, I'm fairly confident they filmed in Toronto.

Anyway, I really enjoyed that, and am even moreso stoked for Picard than before! Piff on all the negative nancies and naysayers who are sharting on the series because of a six minute piece.

Based on what I saw, I wonder if the Synths are perhaps based on Borg tech. Maybe in exchange for helping them escape, the Romulans offered some to the Federation with ulterior motives. The attack may have been the result of a hack by the Romulans through a backdoor in the tech.

Can't wait for another two weeks -- MAKE IT SO!

spoilers for Children of Mars and Picard Countdown comic
I think in light of the synth attack on Mars in the short trek and that Geordi was overseeing construction of the rescue armada on Mars in the Picard Countdown comic, I believe Geordi is dead by the time of the Picard show.

I haven't seen anyone shit on it. Just people discussing and dissecting it, like we do all Trek.

Well that was rather pointless. Two girls fight and an attack happens. That's it. Obviously Mars had the Protomolecule. :)

I'm a bit confused about why they were building Discovery era ships at the shipyard. Did the CGI people not get the memo?
They should have been building Prometheus and Vesta class starships there. Maybe even an Odyssey in its early stages.

Do you by any chance know what year the comic takes place?

And would you say this short occurs during the same year?

I'm wanting to say 2386. It probably happens a bit before "Children of Mars".

They couldn't afford to render some First Contact era ships? It's not like they have to design them from scratch. It doesn't take long.
I'm sorry but that is no excuse. They own a vast library of starships that would have been more appropriate.
