Terminator 5 films where John Connor is billed and shown as the pivotal for the survival of mankind then Dark Fate comes along kills him off within a few mins like he was some kind of an afterthought and now with have a "reboot" where the fate of mankind is transferred to a young girl. I'd call that gender-swapping as well as the person sent back from the future to protect her is also a genetically enhanced female super-soldier which is a change to the usual male ones. Or are we talking about different movies?
Meh. There’s a Black Superman in the multiverse. Never liked the actor though. Just gives off a bad vibe with me.Jordan said he'd like to play the character. This thread suggests he's unfit to do so because of his skin color.
But that’s supposed to be the excuse to justify casting a white guy by default.Just cast the best person for the job.
Last standalone Superman movie did over $600 million worldwide and currently has an audience score of 75%. I'd say they are eating it fine.
But that’s supposed to be the excuse to justify casting a white guy by default.
I think what she's trying to say is that that phrasing is generally considered coded language because "best person for the job" is completely subjective and unquantifiable. So it's a nice way to move the goalposts when things don't go your way.
I don't care what color of skin the next Bruce Wayne*, Superman or James Bond has. If he embodies the role, then cast him!
* Obviously, the next Batman is a very pasty Robert Pattinson, but... the one after that.
In this era of billion dollar movies, “fine” is damning praise and not good business. Especially for Superman.
I saw it three times.
They need to create White Power Man. A KKK hood and a Nazi flag can be part of his costume. His alter-ego can be a tractor salesman in the heart of Alabama. No need to ever worry about a black actor touching that role.
Or not... (Not Safe for Work)
By the bye... BlacKKKlansman is a great movie.

...And I just totally mansplained.
Except one is wrong. It's all about preference and choice and everybody can have different ones and neither is right or wrong.
It's not a movie I'm personally interested in seeing, so I will do with many films in the cinema I don't want to go watch, I won't go and watch it, but I'm not going to deny anyone else who does want to watch that film from watching it
Yeah, it’s a dog whistle. I don’t think that was his intent though, just pointing it out in a joking manner.I think what she's trying to say is that that phrasing is generally considered coded language because "best person for the job" is completely subjective and unquantifiable. Fundamentally.
