Michael B. Jordan as the Man Of Steel?

Not sure why Jordan didn't get more blame for Fantastic Four 15 failing although I guess there are big reasons (the previous movies being bad, the director and studio publicly feuding and OTOH the Creed movies being very successful), still a pretty big thing to just ignore.

Could you explain your statement? Why would Jordan need to be blamed?

It took me a while to work it out then I remembered all the complaints from the usual suspects about casting a black actor in the role.

Ah, like so. Well yes, I suppose in today's day and age of butthurt people one would expect people blaming Jordan for the movies failure. But as someone posted above, he was actually one of the very few highlights of the movie.

If the Superman movie doesn't do well you can be sure people will be looking to the casting. It's to Jordan's credit that people don't associate him much with it. His success as Killmonger probably doesn't hurt.

Just so long as Jordan never again says, "They're still gonna go see it anyway." we should be fine.

I don't know about that. There hasn't been a Superman movie that was an unqualified success financially and critically in a long time. That will be at least as prominent if not moreso than the casting in any after the fact analysis (assuming, as you say, the movie doesn't succeed).

I just think it will be part of the conversation. The same way it did with the 2016 Ghostbusters and women.

I know he's producing, but his job (and history) means he will have influence over the path of the film, as in all of the films he's ruined. Coates does not have free reign over the project. So, again, I say JJ should be nowhere near / have his hands on this film.
Hands on or hands off , by hiring Ta-Nehisi Coates to write, JJ is off to a pretty good start, I’d say.

I have to admit that I find the common denominator of Michael B. Jordan's screen personas to be a little too charismatic, a little too young and cool, for Superman/Clark Kent. I find myself thinking that if I were to cast a black Superman, I would go for someone like William Jackson Harper (most famous as Chidi on The Good Place) -- someone who projects a nerdier affect, someone with a little more of a "dad" vibe.

But in fairness, Jordan is an extraordinarily talented actor, and he may well be able to channel that Clark Kent/nebbish Boy Scout vibe I'm looking for. I don't want to jump to conclusions.

Val Zod replaces Superman after Kal-L was killed by Darkseid's forces in the comics. If I am thinking of the right character. We could see Clark in action at the beginning of the movie, and his presence could be felt in the story itself.
