I think that episode points out explicitly that the Enterprise-D was never meant to be a 'warship'.

It was definitely meant to be the sector command ship. And was on the frontline at Galorndon Core. I'd rather have a dick in the captain's chair that is interested in actually surviving the battle.

The "D" was never meant to be "exclusively" a warship. But if there was a battle, that thing was the biggest, baddest ship carrying the flag.

That's why this thing has a saucer to seperate, to get rid of the "non-warship" crew. What the "battle bridge" controls it's essentially exclusively a warship.

Of course, if you get rid of the civilians beforehand (like, of you KNOW you're going on a border-patrol or war-like situation), you can still leave the luxury-hotel parts of the ship docked as well. Even got a few phaser stripes extra.

Exactly who was not interested in surviving the battle?

At no point in the show did Dick Jellico show any remarkable leadership abilities or genius at his job. He was just a fairly competent dick.

Riker beat the Borg. Jellico...did what, exactly?

Jellico was an insecure, blustering little bitch. When the chips were down, he had to go to Riker and ask for his help. That Jellico needed to do a little dick-waving in the process, sharing his low opinion of Riker in the process of the ask, reflects poorly on Jellico; evidence of his insecurity.
Data beat the borg. All Riker at the end was order Wesley Crusher to set a collision course.

When did riker ever really show an ability to follow orders he didn't like? Hell he couldn't even change the ship to a four shift rotation without complaining to jellico about it.

This may be taken for what it's worth and I don't know if this site is any good WRT actual production news, but:
https://thegww.com/exclusive-cbs-al...-begin-filming-may-4th-in-mississauga-canada/
This is being reported by other sources as well, some of whom can be trusted.
That would likely be aiming it for a likely January premiere date.
I'm thinking February, nine months after the start of filming is the pattern Disco tends to follow with its premieres.

Captain Pike show seems to be most popular so far...the Section 31 series not so certain about in votes. Production of Section 31 is May 4 and Harris is in it.

Harris? You mean the show is set during the 22nd century? During the forming of the Federation and Romulan War?
