Spoilers Supergirl - Season 5

In the comics version of the COIE, all universes were destroyed except 5, and those 5 were merged. That's why people are speculating.
I think it might be more like 3 earths (1, 38, BL) will merge, and we will still have a multiverse. We just might have to re-remember certain events. I posted some stuff to consider the Crossover thread.

Oh THANK YOU, The Realist. But does it mean that after Crisis, interactions between DC heros will be more numerous and right one of them will have problems with mean & violent aliens/organizations, others will automatically come and help, at least, the closest one?
Plus, what about Kara (and Nia)'s job as reporter at Catco, Lena and L-Corp (though I guess that she should rebound easily though an Earth changing) and the DEO even if its role is universal and timeless?
It risks to be a little confusing at the beginning...
Even if they merge, I doubt it will have much of a impact on how often we see crossovers. Right now the three shows that are on the same Earth don't really crossover that often, and even with Supergirl on another Earth, they have Star Labs' portal tech that makes jumping over to Earth-38 as easy as pushing a button, but they still don't jump that often.

Actually, Oliver, Barry, and Kate (as well as the Legends of Tomorrow characters) are all from the same Earth, designated Earth-1. Supergirl is the only outlier among the core Arrowverse shows.
Don't forget Black Lighting is from yet another earth. Jason

The DEO and the Time Agency are going to Merge.

Chyler Leigh is going to be on Legends, a lot.

Alex is going to be married to Ava, and only Sara knows the truth, about who loves who really, so she has to break them up... Until she sees that Ava and Alex have children, and the ninja assassin punks out.

Exactly why there's no reason for them to merge at all. It would cost them a great deal of story potential and gain them absolutely not one blessed thing.

Exactly how do w earths merge? Does that mean Earth1 would have all these earth refuges without jobs and homes all of a sudden? Jason

That's just it. In the comics, the "merge" meant that the continuity was rebooted and the characters' pasts rewritten. It was a new continuity where characters who'd been on separate Earths in the old comics were all on a single Earth in the new ones, and had different origin stories and backstories to boot. The closest TV equivalent would be cancelling all the shows and replacing them with rebooted shows, and that's not what they're going to do. This is an event less than halfway through the seasons of three of the five participating shows, all of which have ongoing story threads they've set up and clearly have no intention of abandoning. It just makes no sense to expect the shows to do the same thing the comics did.

For what it's worth, though, when Kamen Rider Build merged two parallel Earths, it did so by merging all the people with their doubles, so there was only one of each. I think there's another SF franchise that did the same thing, but I'm blanking on what it was.

Holy Doomsday Prediction, Batman!

This is more like TV Flashpoint -- a few IMPORTANT things have changed (like Pied Piper being a good guy and DIggle's child's gender changing)... but everything smoothed out over time.

Black Lightning's story, all the way from Season 1, episode 1, could EASILY fit into a post-Crisis Earth... Batwoman just started, and was all local, so EASY to plug into post-Crisis.

Arrow might be a bit harder...but since it is ending, we might not need the excuse of Superman focusing on the "major" cities like Metropolis, so Arrow would indeed be the first hero Star City has ever seen up close.

Supergirl might be hardest, with all the aliens....but maybe making National City Grand Center the way New York was in Men IN Black will explain why others haven't seen the aliens. Not sure how they deal with the president.

Legends -- they really don't care, and will find a way to make fun of it eventually

Those of us who WOULD like to see a merge... i think most of us JUST want the 3 connected... we don't seeing it being like the comic... just like the TV version looks kind of bootleg/ "on a budget" in terms of showing the potential end of the world when compared to the comics, we expect the same of any kind of "merger"...which like the comic, will just start in the middle of life...and most (characters on the earth) won't remember the difference

If there is zero story reason to merge them, why do it?

Being on separate earths has never stopped crossovers before. And they seem to have like a bunch of the devices that allow travel like it is nothing.

Well, the producers, according to various article, keep saying that the crossover is a "game changer". Any disappointment that I will have with the crossover would be if there is no actualy changing of the game.

Being a game changer doesn't automatically mean they'll merge the Earths. We already know they are very likely going to kill Oliver Queen, and that is already a pretty massive game changer.

As I said, I fully expect major plot developments like those we've had in earlier crossovers, like weddings, character deaths, character debuts, etc. But they'll be developments that serve the needs of the various ongoing series, rather than merely a copy of a story from three decades ago that was done to serve a completely different set of needs.

Guggenheim did tell Rolling Stone that this is an opportunity to tweak the continuity in some ways, as they did with Flashpoint. They will make changes that are useful to them. But as we've already discussed, merging the universes would not be particularly useful to them, because the only thing it would gain them is something they already have courtesy of the breach extrapolator gadgets, and it would cost them a great deal in terms of the individual shows' worldbuilding and backstories.

The characters all assume that is going to happen. But didn't the finally of last season's Arrow have the Monitor go to Felicity of 2040 and take her TO Oliver? Seems like 45 is a little young to take her to her death? That moment kinda felt like when Alexander Luthor took the Superman of Earth 2 and Lois Lane to the pocket dimension...

Who is going to own CatCo after Rojas leaves/dies? :vulcan:

Maybe Cat Grant can come back long enough to tell Lena to wake up and smell the coffee. :bolian:

That she is throwing away the one thing Lena has always wanted. :brickwall:

A friend that loved her :sigh: ...

Lena has to go to jail for actions. Maybe she gets out for plot reasons but they need to have the character pay a price. Even Oliver on Arrow eventually went to prision. As for who takes over at Katco lets see their version of Cloe. Jason

I'm super stoked for the crossover...I can't wait for it all to be over and the back-and-forth about merging universes can finally end.

Nah, I'm kidding of course. It will never end, but at least it will probably decrease. ;)

Re: Oliver in prison, I think he served less time than the Dad who spent half a million dollars to bribe his kid's way into college will actually serve.

Maybe she can serve her time in the DEO lockup, so she's readily avail to consult on impossible tech builds to save the planet..

I'm 3 episodes behind with Supergirl right now and can't decide if I want to get caught up (I have the time because I'm currently bedridden due to a hit and run accident) or just watch the crossover without context.

You should watch it because you never know how the regular episodes might impact the story. Especially Supergirl because of what role Lena might play in it. Jason
