GhostBusters 3 is Finally Being Made. (2020 Release)

After the failure of Terminator and Dr Sleep will this film continue the trend of young audiences (unsurprisingly) not caring about sequels to movies made decades before they were born?
I think Ghostbusters probably has at least a bit more awareness by younger audiences than The Shining probably does. As for Terminator, I don't blame that so much on young audiences not caring, as people having been burned too many times with movies they didn't like.

I dunno - there's no way they can top Thor dancing in Times Square:

Didn't they also bring Ecto Coolers back briefly when the reboot came out?
Yes! But, only in the six pack boxes. And Slimer wasn't on the boxes, either. Hopefully this won't be as hard to find as last time! I had to drive seventy miles to Lexington and search a number of stores before I finally found a case in Richmond, at a Meijer's. God bless Meijer's!

This movie doesn't have a decade of crappy sequels. Just one crappy remake so the stink isn't hard on this one just yet.

Leaving aside the fact that the last film wasn't crap; they'll be selling this one as the sequel to Ghostbusters 2, which is even older than T2, though not quite as old as The Shining.

Ghostbusters 2 though is so old it not being good, well I thought it was good, almost doesn't feel relevant because most of the older fans won't hold it against a new movie and younger fans might not even know it exists.

Just about everything that was crappy about Ghostbusters 2 was due to studio interference. The designs for the animated series had to be different because of copyright/trademark issues, so what does the studio demand? "Make all the equipment look like the cartoon!" Stupid. And more stupid from there.

Someone should tell studio execs "You make the deals, we'll make the movies. We won't tell you how to do your job, you don't tell us how to do ours." Eventually they just might get the idea.

Trailer is coming soon

I wonder if this will be with the "No Time to Die" trailer reveal on Wednesday too? Both are Sony properties

Title is still confirmed to be "Ghostbusters: Afterlife"

It's a damn shame this couldn't get done a little bit sooner so Harold Ramis could be involved.. I know everyone loves them some Bill Murray, but to me Egon was the Peanut Butter to Venkman's jelly.

It's going to be hard to swallow a sequel without him, but not nearly as hard to swallow as the disgraceful 2016 reboot. I just hope Reitman's son understands the spirit of the original film, and follows it.

Reading between the lines, I don’t think Murray was going to do this while Ramis was attached. His passing is sadly (probably) the reason this is happening now.

Egon was my favourite, too.

Wow, I had no idea things got so bad between them. I'm assuming all the voice work in the game must have been done individually then.

Trailer will debut on Monday. First look at Paul Rudd in the movie. Movie Synopsis revealed too

Looks like Finn Wolfhard's character finds Ecto-1 and goes on a joy ride

Vanity Fair reports that the new story will follow Carrie Coon (Gone Girl) as mom Callie, her science-obsessed daughter Phoebe (Captain Marvel’s Mckenna Grace), and gearhead son Trevor (Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard) as they move to a small town in Oklahoma where they don’t know anyone, but have inherited property from Callie’s father, whom she didn’t know.

Unlike Ghostbusters 2016, the new movie will connect directly to the original via the “Manhattan Crossrip”, a “technical term for that long-ago bizarre incident in New York involving an apocalypse-summoning skyscraper, a gargantuan killer marshmallow man, and four working stiffs who managed to fight back against an ancient Sumerian God named Gozer.” Most of the original cast is expected to return, although it’s not clear in what capacity they’ll return.

“As the family arrives at an old farm, they begin to discover their connection to the original Ghostbusters,” Reitman tells Vanity Fair. “Trevor and Phoebe are about to find out who their grandfather was and whether they’re ready to pick up the proton pack themselves.”

The house they inherit is filled with Ghostbusters stuff including “a mountain of books and lots of bizarre technology,” and “Phoebe will find a device that reads psychokinetic energy.”

However, while Trevor and Phoebe are toying around with old Ghostbusters stuff, they’re not really familiar with the events of the 1984 movie. Thankfully for them, “they have a summer school teacher named Mr. Grooberson (played by Paul Rudd) who was a kid when the Manhattan Crossrip occurred. Although later generations may think of it as a myth, or not think of it at all, he remembers it obsessively and is excited to pass on what he knows.”

Looks like Callie is the daughter of Egon and she's inherited his property.

Yeah, that's definitely the impression I got from the article. I think that's a nice way of working Egon into the story without Harold Ramis. I wonder if Callie's mother will be anyone significant?

Lab Girl from GB 2. It’s pointless but painless fanservice. Or they go the Janine route, Which would definitely get some air punches but wavers on fanwank.

I am good with either tbh. Or neither.
